I was going to say that it is further away than Milwaukee and bands (including headliners sometimes) play Milwaukee and Riot Fest or Lolla.

Violent Femmes and X are playing a show at Radius May 30th. Went to the venue this weekend and it was really cool, so i may try to go to the show

Origami Angel just announced a tour hitting Chicago in June so they are probably out.

Bush is out, Tinley Park on August 6... they would have kind of made sense if Pumpkins are playing

Liz Phair tour with no Chicago date

  8. I'd be kind of surprised if she played again so soon, but I'd gladly see her again. Had a ton of fun at her set in 2018.

Man, that's a bummer. Was really hoping they'd be on the bill... Cool for folks in Chicago who get to see them with Direct Hit!, Vapid's other band, and the Capgun Heroes though!

  12. I saw Direct Hit! over the weekend and they sound better than they ever have. Maura from Mixtapes is playing guitar and keyboards for them now.

Is that permanent? Maura had mentioned it was initially just for the one Masked Intruder tour on a podcast, but it would be fantastic if it were permanent!

  14. I assumed so, but I actually don't know. This was the first time I've seen them since the big lineup changes a couple years ago.

    nah.

not that they'd ever play Riot again, but i think Joyce Manor is out. someone asked Barry on the r/indieheads AMA when they would be back in Chicago. he said August.

  16. Did they have a bad experience last time they played or something?

If they are back in August they are likely on the Lolla lineup.

    nah.

they played in 2015. i remember sometime after that, Barry saying something like "fuck Riot fest" the next time they were in Chicago. now that i think about it, he WOULD say shit like that and not mean it.

edit: just asked on his AMA.

Just got back from the Glass Animals show at Lincoln Hall. They said they’d be back in September. Anyone think they’d be a good fit at riot? They killed it tonight.

I don't see them as a fit, really. Doesn't mean it won't happen, but they definitely don't strike me as a "Riot Fest" band.

It depends. If they go a direction more like 2018 then it definitely works, but that seemed more like a fluke. It could be North Coast too if they are going back to including some non-electronic stuff which they hinted at as a possibility in a survey thing I took the other day (although I honestly kinda hope they don't).

I actually think most likely it's just a headlining tour. They haven't really toured actively in a while, have a new album on the way, and Lincoln Hall doesn't really count as a full headliner because of how small it is. I'm thinking full tour in the fall and then festival circuit 2021

Haven’t been keeping up with the speculation, but FOB seems realistic with MCR as a headliner if they’re trying to a 2000s thing
