No mention of the delay? Is that even legit

  2. If anything I'd expect them to mention the delay with the release of the next single but either way it hasn't been confirmed. Wouldn't be surprised tho.

I doubt they officially mention the delay without a new release date in hand, otherwise it’s two awkward announcements to make. But who knows, not like they have any rhyme or reason when it comes to these things.

Somebody posted a rant about the album getting delayed on Reddit and Matty responded:

“I never said it was shit lol it’s fucking amazing. Listen you want me to be honest I’m never gonna put out a record I’m not happy with - even if you’d ‘like’ it to come out earlier. People love dates, fans, labels etc but I’ve always said it was gonna come out when it’s finished. And I’ve just finished it. So it will come out as soon as it’s physically made. And I put out a single less than a year after Brief inquiry. And continued to release music essentially every month up until now. So as much as I get your frustration Cos you want it I also don’t care Cos it’s so good and that’s just life xxx“

I totally understand the frustrations around the delay. It’s comical at this point. But I respect the transparency about it, I suppose, and the commitment to making the record the best.

  7. I just want a studio version of "If You're Too Shy" YESTERDAY! It's my favorite song of theirs since "Chocolate."

  8. For real. It's not like they've just postponed a show that fans bought tickets, flights, and hotels that you can't get your money back for. Like, the album IS going to come out. Fans have waited this long already, so just keep doing what you're doing and sit back and be patient. Haha.

I remember the excruciating wait for the studio version of The Sound to come out after they had been playing it live and how good it finally felt when it was released. This window has been shorter but I’m even more excited for this one.

I'm really excited for the album, but I don't get the frustration people are voicing. Brief Inquiry only came out 15 months ago, and since then we've gotten 4 new REALLY GREAT singles, with a 5th one apparently coming very soon.
Their Brief Inquiry tour didnt come to my city (except for a festival), so personally I'm more excited to finally experience those songs in a live setting. The new album is just an awesome bonus.

I think the most valid complaint is launching tours under the pretense that the album would be out. They’re doing a good job at playing new songs, but they’ve been touring a similar show for a while, and everyone attending the UK dates right now are not getting the full complete show that the rest of the world will get in a couple months once the album with more than a dozen new songs gets released. Tons of people bought tickets to this tour to see them again after the year under the guise that the next album would be out.

I’m fine with the delay but like a lot of things this band does, it would be 1000x better if they didn’t constantly announce things that don’t pan out. Otherwise, the rollout of this album wouldn’t ruffle any feathers.

  13. the thing is... tours need to be booked WAY in advance. i bet they've had these shows booked for close to a year, if not more. they probably weren't even close to finishing the album when they booked the tour.

I feel like when they originally said they were making two albums they said they weren't going to properly tour ABI and make two albums quickly instead but then they still did a shitload of touring so it's not really surprising that it took longer than expected. I'm fine with him doing what he wants, it's going to be amazing when it's done.

Maybe don’t tell the world in June 2018 that you’re going to release two albums in the next year then?

If they had released it when they were supposed to...boot world wouldn't have happened.

  17. I personally have never claimed I was going to do something and then not done it on time. Not once!!

Do you have a captive group of millions of people that you claimed it to?

  19.
  20. Imagine if they told people "it will be out when it's done" instead of giving a vague general date like "June 2018." People wouldn't accept that either.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Or...get this...say nothing at all. They were already releasing A Brief Inquiry.

When we saw them in Indy I think the absolute highlight was “I Like America & America Likes Me”. Rips.
