Watching JL vs TT. Already loving it. These movies are making my week.

Robin to Blue Beetle: That's the difference between you and me. You wear a weapon. I am a weapon.

Batman: Where does all that food go if you don't have a stomach?
    Cyborg: You don't wanna know.

Where are you watching all of these? As far as I know they aren't available through Netflix

So I decided to watch The Killing Joke... The minutes before the actual story felt like terrible filler. I mean, I wouldn't mind if they found a way to foreshadow or make reference to TKJ story in the beginning with the whole Bat Girl story... However, it just felt like two episodes (that literally have nothing to do with each other) stuck together and called a movie.

Now, I have no problem with filler in shows. However with movies? No, that's bad especially if it's like this where it doesn't move the main plot forward, and if the film would have worked the same (if not better) without it. You know you have a major problem. Seriously, I couldn't help but laugh after I realized they pulled a "Okay, now that this story is over. Here is a completely new one in the same universe." Just felt like terrible story writing to me.

Also on an unrelated note about TKJ... Was I the only one weirded out when Batman was laughing at the end with the Joker? It just seemed incredibly odd to me.

    This Must Be My Dream

I watch TKJ last night, and I thought was very strange that they ended it with Bats and Joker laughing it up

  7. Killing Joke was... not good. Didn't translate well to the animated format well at all, imo. The decision to make it a somewhat literal interpretation, keeping certain panels entirely intact, was just jarring and didn't really fit the medium. Not to mention the terrible prologue that somehow managed to ruin Barbara's character even more.

However, hearing Conroy and Hamill convinced me to re-watch TAS, which has proven to be an excellent decision.

  8. Well, it's heavily implied that Batman kills the Joker (hence 'Killing Joke') at the end of the graphic novel and the movie. I always saw it as Batman, for a brief moment, embracing the insanity that Joker insists they share. In doing so, Batman finds himself "at the edge of the abyss, the place where you don't care anymore, where all hope dies" and finally just kills the Joker.

Agreed. Somehow that was more vague in the movie than it was the book. I was wondering if they were going to go one way or another in the movie, but I guess not.

How did this go under the radar? Looks awesome. IMO for the past few years every other DC animated film released has been good so this one should be great

I've started re-watching TAS, and man the music in this series is so good. Somtimes I kinda wish I splurged on that ridiculous Mondo collectors vinyl set.

Saw Return of the Caped Crusader tonight via Fathom Events 'cause I wanted to remember what it was like to enjoy DC characters on the big screen. If you're a Batman fan, you'll love this. There are some pretty fun references.
