As someone who has never fit into traditional standards of beauty, I definitely get this. But I just remind myself that preferences literally exist for everyone. I prefer scrawny guys myself over any other body type but I also think that what makes people unique is what makes them beautiful and a lot of people believe that

like obviously there are probably tons of pretty girls in Japan that are, on a traditional scale, maybe more beautiful than your gf (models maybe idk) but you don’t want them, you want her. It works both ways. People want you because you look like you!

Really appreciate your insight on this. Think I’m just having a down day but it’s definitely something I’ve struggled to wrap my head around my whole life.
