I was so underwhelmed and disappointed by You Were Good as an album closer back in 2013. Now I find it incredible and heartbreaking.

 

Kinda wish the Styrofoam song Jim sang on would have been on Stay On My Side Tonight instead- woulda fit in really well I think. Sorry if this has already been discussed but that song deserves love.

 

I gave Bleed American a spin today, which was long overdue since I hadn't put it on in forever. I can say now that Cautioners is the best song on the record by a mile. No other track comes close. I think my second favorite this time was actually My Sundown.

Top ten JEW songs, go.

 

I've done nothing today except listen to JEW and play Pokemon. Went through Clarity>Damage twice. I might be able to do a top 10 now but obviously it'll probably change in time.

I can pretty much guarantee yours will be the only list that includes Firefight, people don't seem to like that song. I think it's fine but wouldn't sniff my top ten. To be honest, I'm having a little bit of trouble with the CTL songs you ended up including, not counting Carry You.

 

I've seen that Firefight isn't really that liked, ha. I love it though. I love that whole album, still easily my favourite. and Sweetness is a perfect pop rock song.

 

Have you even heard Thriller or Pet Sounds?

 

I guess that didn't work super well there, but I wanted to pull it out anyway.

I totally discounted SOMST... I need to listen to that more to remember the songs, I've only given it a couple spins but really liked it.

Surprised at how high You Were Good is. I think if I were to pick a Damage song it'd be the title track or Please Say No.

 

SOMST is pretty incredible. Break it out once the weather cools down. Those songs are great for fall.

Those are probably two and three for me off Damage. "You Were Good" is the one that means the most to me though, and a perfect encapsulation of what that album is about.

i never realized, but i do prefer the more upbeat JEW songs.

 

I think they do slow better than just about anyone. That's actually atypical of my listening habits, too.

23 barely made it for me. I understand how good of a song it is but oddly enough, it hasn't clicked with me spiritually like a lot of other JEW tracks have, despite it being notorious for being one of JEW's best songs. Maybe it'll click in 4 years when I turn 23 (;

 

And Cautioners...pretty much unforgivable. Haha, in all seriousness your list is the most different from mine that I've seen. 9/10 songs on your list never had a chance to make mine.

but seriously i really like all the songs that have been mentioned to some degree. The only JEW song i dont really like is Your House, as I've said before. but even it has some redeemable qualities.

 

Yeah I really like that song. Probably wouldn't even make my top 20, but still great.

Today's listen to BA confirmed for me how underrated Get It Faster and The Authority Song are. I think the last four tracks actually form the best run on that album.

Meanwhile, still barely got through Sweetness and If You Don't, Don't. I still love the record but it's got two total stinkers.
