I'm trying to piece together my thoughts in an articulate way about this, because it's Green Day and they're my favorite band and I've never disliked a release by them as heavily as I have when I first heard this. Which is nuts because I like the trilogy. The more I listen to this, I like it, despite me thinking it's probably their weakest record in terms of how much I like it and much effort it feels they put into it. But the more I listen to it, the more I like it. There's a few tracks on here I actively hate and don't think have any redeeming qualities, but the rest is growing on me, and I don't know if that's my bias kicking in or if I genuinely think they're good or worthwhile tunes, whatever that means

I am going to reserve gathering my full opinions on this until I can listen to it in its intended quality and have a few days to really think about it haha

Lol it's fucking great. I love all of their side projects, check out Foxboro Hot Tubs and Pinhead Gunpowder (Billie's other band) too if you haven't

Also I don't listen to leaks but I'm really intrigued by this album, it seems like a lot of people think the singles are the worst songs on the album

  4. If that’s true, I’m going to love this album. The singles are so good.

Yeah I'm excited, I legit love the title track and Oh Yeah is growing on me a lot. Still not super crazy about Fire Ready Aim though

This album is easily their most consistent record in over a decade.

Definitely their most consistent since AI.

The singles are also my least favorite on it. This album is a straight up, in your face, rock album that doesn’t beat around the bush. It’s an easy listen and gets the job done.

    Just like my father.

Didn't everyone say this about RR?

Probably, but compared to the trilogy and 21cb that’s not a very high bar. This one is 10 songs and 26 minutes long. Lean and mean.

21CB remains super underrated, imo. Trilogy is mostly not great and RR is just okay to me. Haven’t heard this yet, but the singles have grown on me a lot so I’m looking forward to listening soon.

Interesting to see people think the singles are the weakest. Tbh I would hope so because all three were total garbage, and at points actively embarrassing.

I'll listen to this but coming out the same day as Spanish Love Songs is not a comparison point they want at this point...

Junkies On A High is very reminiscent to that The Strokes/The Bravery indie pop rock sound. I love it.

No, it's just much better in a similar genre. It was a personal thing explaining why I probably won't listen to this much.

First listen: some surprisingly cool songs but they REALLY lean into the vibe of the singles even if there are some nice songwriting touches that bring AI to mind. The singles are the worst except stab you in the heart which is a career low to me. Teenagers is pretty bad too. All in all not the music I wish they were making but it’s not COMPLETE garbage. We’ll see if I end up listening again or not.

I dig most of it other than Oh Yeah. It's just a tad short.

I've enjoyed my first few listens of this, but it definitely feels very insubstantial. By the time you settle into the thing, it's over. Definitely not as good as RR.

This is gunna be a super divisive record....I think I'd only take 2-4 songs here. One of them sounds exactly like *song below* to a degree that I wonder if they'll get sued.

    In other news,
I won tickets to their record release in LA on friday! 500cap room! fuck yeah!

I’m really digging this. It’s a lot of fun. Wasn’t expecting to be this into it. It’s a straight up rock album. Willing to bet these songs will kick ass live too.

Been going through their stuff to prepare and I still think a lot of the trilogy is really underrated. Stray Heart is such a great song
