It’s in the accountability thread but one of the ads for his art show uses literal nazi imagery and he posted a stack of books which contain some questionable shit as well

Not a good look for sure. Also never heard of either of those things before without looking them up just now. Seems in line with things I’ve heard him say in the past. Can I be disappointed with skiba and not shat on in this thread for disavowing blink? Unlikely.

Not everyone "worships" them in here. I'm not defending them and don't really care for their new music anyways, but I'm still going to occasionally play Self-Titled and Dude Ranch when I'm in the mood.

 

Now that you mention that, I recall AltPress had a thing about his paintings and dude straight up painted one of Hitler as a child. It’s so iffy

This is the art gallery Matt did those paintings for, it should give more context on what's going on and what the gallery is about. For what it's worth I think it's worth noting that the owner is a gay Latino man.

He went on to post in comments of that picture that he likes reading, even stuff he doesn’t agree with to try and see where people are coming from and why they think that way.

 

I feel like that’s something that can be done privately without posting pictures of the books to 281k followers.

 

I mean, the dude has been strange for decades at this point.

 

Posting nazi imagery or reading material shouldn’t be reduced to a quirk

I also think Matt’s post is ironic. He comes off as more ignorant than anyone by not seeing why this is problematic.

 

I have a hard time reading him. He definitely does post some problematic shit, but half his posts make no sense to even understand. He for sure falls into the category of someone who overshares though, especially when you mention above how far his reach is.

For a while now I've been doing my own readings/research on Fascist/neo-Nazi movements and how they overlap with LaVey's Satanism/esoteric movements and cult figures like Julius Evola - all from an academic perspective, relying on scholars and activists versed in that history. I don't feel compelled to go out and read the source material like what Skiba seems to be doing. That's time and energy I don't wanna devote my money or brain toward, for a variety of reasons.

I get that he's into morbid, dark stuff. I don't understand wanting to immerse one's self in that source material, not to mention adding those physical items to one's collection. If anything it does come off as ignorant and irresponsible, and it also seems like he's glorifying the ideas in these books by making a casual post showing off his reading list.

All I gotta say is everyone should read Against the Fascist Creep by Alexander Reid Ross and Fascism Today by Shane Burley.

 

Ill note that this isn’t directed at any one person. I’m just incredibly frustrated by Travis and Matt, along with Marks vanilla stance on everything.

At this point my only solution is to not listen to the band or support them. That feeling carries over into Alk3 as well.
