11 games. At least half of these are probably FIFA/Madden/NBA, Call of Duty and GTA. It's very likely not very different on Xbox. That's worth remembering because it puts a lot of stuff into perspective.

i think i have over 200 games on the PS4 lol

 

If you think about it, that's an average of 11. So including all of us that have bought waaaaay more than that

 

Also have to think about the fact that even the people who buy a PS4 JUST to play CoD or JUST to play Madden have bought AT LEAST 7 games if they got the console in 2013 when it launched and bought each new game in one of those series every year since.

 

This generation was pretty bad for CoD, we got, what, one good game the entire gen (WWII)? Maybe two if Modern Warfare 2019 is still positively regarded?

Ghosts and Infinite Warfare we bad. Black Ops 3, Black Ops 4, and Advanced Warfare were mediocre.

 

Just thought this obviously doesn't include pre-owned sales, which probably explains a lot

I have a friend who's bought like 5 PS4s but only plays 3-4 games on it because he mainly games on PC so he's probably fucking up the ratio

 

yeah I know, but there’s definitely a contingent of people who buy CoD every year, and I’d say that group is bigger than the group who only buy it every couple of years, just considering how well the games always sell (despite the numbers not being as strong as they generally were last gen).

 

Probably, though there are probably some people that only buy Black Ops for example

 

I was just thinking, I even bought CoD almost every year this gen. I bought Ghosts just because it was one of the only things I was interested in at PS4’s launch (also bought AssCreed 4 on day one). I bought Advanced Warfare because of the cool-sounding campaign (back when K*v*n Sp*c*y was still a selling point lol). I bought Black Ops 3 because I loved Black Ops 2 and Treyarch’s work on the franchise in general. Skipped Infinite Warfare because it was bad. Then bought WWII because I heard good things (was my favorite CoD of the gen by far). Wasn’t going to buy Black Ops 4 but everyone was gushing about Blackout so I wound up getting it and barely playing it. And then I didn’t buy Modern Warfare because of how they re-wrote history to misrepresent America’s involvement in that war crime.

So of the seven games I bought five lol

 

Probably doesn't include PS Plus free games either I'd guess, and every COD player probably has PS Plus

Not every Madden player though, I'm not saying any of this to make a point at all it's just interesting looking at the different factors

 

Yeah doesn’t include those. Also not digital-only games. I do remember hearing at some point that most people never open those PS Plus/Games With Gold games.

I do think the biggest factor is the people who bought a PS4 to be a glorified Blu Ray player and said "we'll get games eventually!", and could've done the same with a XBO but chose PS4 for whatever reason. I've heard a lot more people do that with PS4 than XBO.

My best friend essentially did that haha he owns 0 games

 

By the time a game I'm interested in comes to PS+, I've usually already bought it lol

 

PS4 was cheaper for a while there, plus people just associate Sony with stuff like that

 

I wonder how many PC nerds bought a PS4 to play Bloodborne
