there’s an OPH like five minutes from my place, and on weekends during peak breakfast times it has a wait time generally of 70-80 minutes.

Ya it's true every location varies greatly in quality, i've been to like 4 or 5 different waffle houses' though and can't say i've had a good experience at any of them lol. My local Denny's is probably the best of the "big 3" chains but i'd preferably not eat at any of em lol

 

Denny's used to have really good pancakes too

then they changed the recipe and fucked them up. way too cakey

 

I went to the car dealership for a recalled part on my suv and the dude found $2.5k of other stuff he could “fix” for me I was like nah

just feel like it's not a coincidence that most other food chatter in this thread never fails to make me hungry and i have not felt but a single rumble in my tum at the discussion of WH

 

Waffle House is the only chain place we ever go for breakfast. Otherwise there's too many incredible local places to get brekkie at to ever consider going to a chain.

 

I learned this from my dad that be super specific about what you are asking them to look at or they’ll magically find every single problem with your car to make you worry.

well I didnt get the extra services done so no harm no foul

 

dealership talked my SO into getting this 500 dollar fix which he said was “optional” but hinted she should get it done. I text my buddy who is a salesman and he’s like “nah, she didn’t have to worry about it”

Hannah grew up going there and her grandparents had a house so she really enjoys it. I only went once when I was a kid so I don't have any emotional attachment but she does. Was just looking at the menu for Bolete and it looks amazing.

 

Yeah my grandparents went to theirs every Saturday for like 40 years and basically had a booth saved at their usual time. The people working there were so good at dealing with the crowds and the quality never suffered. Plus it reminds me of happy times with them which were always really special and now I’m emotional about pancakes.

 

So this live action Lion King is basically like “Hey, what if we remade this seminal movie and have emotionless animals act out the whole thing?! Plus Donald Glover!”

 

i usually just drop off my car in the morning and get them to shuttle me to work. They never look at your car on time lol.

 

I'd suggest that you spend either a weekend in the Poconos or a weekend in Bethlehem. I wouldn't try to combine the two as there's easily enough things to do in both spots.

 

I’ll go during the week when it isn’t as busy, as I do enjoy the food. But it isn’t worth waiting an hour and a half. There’s a local diner spot in the city I love which even if it’s busy the bar is usually open and I get food in like 15 minutes.

 

All the quality breakfast places around here are always packed on the weekends and more expensive than a diner or a chain. Like Toast is good but do I need to spend $50+ on breakfast and wait an hour? Probably not I'll just go to the diner.

 

I also feel no attachment to IHop or WH now though cause I can't eat pancakes/waffles for breakfast anymore lol

 

There's a Jewish deli in my hometown called Irv & Karen's that might be my favorite breakfast spot. They use their house-made corned beef in the corned beef hash and they have the #1 best pancakes I've ever had of all time.

Then there's this place called The Committed Pig, they have three locations (soon to be a fourth in Jersey City), and they have the most amazing breakfast. Second-best pancakes I've ever had and just excellent omelettes and stuff too. They also have mind-blowing burgers.

Those are like my top two breakfast spots. Would rather go to these places than any chain.
