People can say whatever they want but I’m not a sports person so I literally didn’t know until 2 people made similar comments

Today was weird.

 

How so?

 

how was the shower

 

Pretty good, standard shower where I’m super out of my element but with enough other strange people around to keep it fun. Just the usual kind of games and snacks and things. It was great to see the mother to be since it had been a long time.

Baby showers aren’t something I normally go to anyway so that was out of the ordinary, then I’m standing next to my friend as the party’s over and her cousin announces the Kobe thing which shocked everyone. I also flashed back to ten years ago because she was the same friend I was standing with at our summer camp when the Michael Jackson news hit, so we both kind of looked at each other like, “Why has this happened to us twice??”

I don’t really want to get into that since a lot of the complicated feelings and issues have been discussed, but that put a strange vibe in the air for a while for me.

Then we went to my brother’s house to have a belated birthday celebration for my SIL, but when we got there they told us their well had just broken so everyone was really stressed and the atmosphere wasn’t what anybody was hoping for the happy occasion. And there’s not really anything we could do to help since it was a total lack of water, so I just tried to play with the kids and keep them happy but I still felt kind of useless.

I don’t know, the shower was as good as could be expected but everything after was just not what I needed today.

We went to hang out w my uncle and fam today who is dying of cancer I guess he decided not to do chemo which I can't even blame him. I'm glad the family could get together one last time with him even tho everyone is all fucked up with stuff going on in their own lives too. I also found out that my cousin's cancer has progressed to her brain and they are working on her will and end of life things now. She is younger than me. Yeah today was very surreal.

 

You can't just ask that
