Not a Thrice fan so I’m skipping this tour, will defuse the BS tour and the last tour though.

 

“Michael, Row Your Boat Ashore” is so depressing.

 

Also, no hate on the song really but [Untitled] is their only album where the final track is easily the weakest, right?

 

I find "Michael" really cathartic. It's dark for sure, but it feels like the much-needed release the album is building to the whole time.

Are you referring to "Michael" or "Break on Through" as the final track? "Michael" is my personal favorite on the record, but I could see someone making a case for "Break on Through" as their weakest final track, except it does have a disadvantage being more of an outro.

Although, even then, I still like it better than "Allah, Allah, Allah" and "All Circles," personally. This whole album hits me so dang hard.

 

I was referring to “Break on Through” and after more thought, I think it may be the onslaught of “Michael” before it that makes it seem like such a tame album closer.

I have strong emotional memories for those other two closers live, so they are “better” in my opinion.

Let’s be honest though, every song they’ve done since [A->B Life] is incredible, so it’s all good.

 

I don’t love “Break on through...” as a closer, but hard to argue that “Someday I’ll find me” isn’t an extremely fitting last line for the band.

Untitled is so well sequenced, and I have to side eye any mwY fan who would say any track is depressing or “bad”.

 

It's a good filler transition track. That's about all I can say about it.

 

I think I’ve come around to the belief that pale horses is their best

Someone could make an honest argument for any album being their best imo, it all comes down to aesthetic preferences i think. I’m less a fan of hardcore so AB doesn’t appeal to me, and i love folky allegory stuff so i love “it’s all crazy ...” but i know there are people who are the opposite of me on these accounts.

 

I still love it all but you don’t find some of their songs depressing? “Michael” and others specifically mention and describe his mental health on decline, it’s sad

 

Tbh not a whole lot of music I find depressing. Even when songs are trying to evoke sadness.

take Radiohead, Bright Eyes, and Bon Iver. They have a lot of depressing lyrical material, but I find comfort when artists I admire put their pain into music. It’s very relatable, and it makes me happy if that makes sense. Carousels is probably a very depressing song to a lot of people, but it’s just beautiful to me.

A lot of people describe Keep You as a very depressing record, and I feel alive every time I put it on.
