right. I get that. which is why I think the "Bernie is sexist for running against Warren" narrative is bull.

But I can also put myself in Warrens shoes and completely understand how she could've taken some of the things Bernie said different than he intended.

I agree with both of your points wholeheartedly, just wanted to point out what changed since you posted it as a question :)

You're still completely missing the point of what we're all upset about, is that she had the opportunity to clarify her statement and squash the "Bernie is sexist" comments and was instead purposefully vague. That's it.

It's hard to me to get on board with a two white people ticket but I do suppose Biden/Warren would prob get enough support from both wings of the party to win. But yeah I can't see Warren agreeing to be his VP considering their vast differences on policy. She'd prob rather stick in the senate and pass legislation from there. It's not like she's a young candidate looking for a profile boost with a VP slot.

It's not on her to do that.

wrap yourself in petals for armor.

It's her campaign, of course it is. And she had the opportunity last night and chose not to.

  9. I think it's entirely reasonable to look at something through various lenses when analyzing it. And yes, I am far more willing to give a woman the "benefit of the doubt" in a scenario where she's describing how she heard and took a conversation in 2020 than I ever have been in my life. And I'm also far more willing to give someone I really like and is the closest I'll ever get to "stanning" a politician again in my life the benefit of the doubt (I'm talking about Bernie here). And I get why people that have wrapped their identity in who they support feel the need to pick sides and argue this like it's a sporting event. However, I also don't think it's implausible that both parties think they're telling the 100% truth of what they experienced in that conversation. This is not a new phenomena. What I do believe is that either one, if they move to the general election, will need the other's base of support to win, and therefore the reaction I find trouble as Biden continues the march onward.

Feels like a good time to remind everyone she actually had bounced back in the polls somewhat from her december drop. The lateast Iowa DMR poll had her 2nd and within the MOE of first after being in 3rd/4th for a bunch of polls before that.

If there's anything more nefarious about it, it's way more plausible that it's a retaliation for the script saying Warren doesn't' support M4A.

Normally I would agree with you that it's not the responsibility of women to clean up a man's mess, but this is different.

Like @dylan said yesterday, if my supposed friend is being dragged through the mud and being called a sexist and misogynist, I would think I would stand up for said friend and squash that nonsense. It's a pretty deliberate gameplan from her side being vague on it.

  13. Any reports on Warren's donation numbers from last night?

  14. "... have far more in common than our differences on punditry. I'm in this race to talk about what's broken ... I know Bernie is in the race for the same reason. We have been friends and allies in this fight for a long time, and I have no doubt we will continue to work together ..."

I don't find this nearly as vague or leaning into the "secret sexist" narrative as others apparently.

I got a text I think from them last night doing the same claim Biden and Bernie were doing, about the most fundraising in the first hour ever or something like that, I'll have to find it

What's best for Bernie's campaign is for Warren to absolve him of any charge of sexism.

What's best for this country is for Bernie to win.

It's not her job to absolve him of sexism him if she felt something he said was belittling no matter how hard I want Bernie to win. I don't like Warren, but that doesn't mean I'm going to put the burden on her.

Can't find the text but I DEF remember seeing Warren's team somewhere make the claim that they were pulling it a ton of money last night. Might have been one of their staffers on twitter or something

There's so many more ways to concretely and directly state all those things and she just didn't. she had two opportunities to do so in her released statement and at the debate. both times she gave just enough room to let the "bernie thinks a woman can't be president" interpretation live on. now she and her campaign have to deal with the reactions by bernie supporters. I agree that the neverwarren hashtags and snakes aren't great but it's also not unexpected, either. given what bernie went through from clinton's campaign, the dnc, the convention, the media, the "bernie bros" bit and seeing how his very online supporters reacted then should have informed her campaign how they'd react now. if she gets the nomination she'll need bernies base to win the general, this didn't help that, it was a bad play and this is the fallout.
