Halsey - Manic (January 17, 2020) Album • Page 5

Discussion in 'Music Forum' started by astereo, May 2, 2019.

  1. Falls Festival in Lorne, VIC was cancelled today due to an extreme threat of bushfires in the area. Halsey and her team have already organised a theatre show TONIGHT for Falls ticket holders and extra fans who can make it. All profits will be donated to the Country Fire Services. Absolutely incredible.

Pretty excited for this. I have July 3rd off for the 4th, so I'm going to hit up Summerfest. Solid openers, but man if it had been PVRIS and Omar Apollo I would've been even more excited. Don't mind Chvrches but never got that into them either.

Hah I was actually just thinking how glad I am that my date is Chvrches and not Pvris

kinda funny she got the two all caps bands with a V replacing a vowel

Yeah that's crazy to me, CHVRCHES are one of my favorite bands and I haven't found much about PVRIS to like, Paramore rip-off era or after.

Also the V in CHVRCHES is at least read-able as a word, I figured PVRIS was Puh-vr-is for the majority of their career

I will not tolerate PVRIS slander on my timeline.

My venue is a pretty big arena, tickets are gonna be pretty expensive haha. Debating springing for VIP tomorrow, even though I'd have to borrow money from my parents, haha.

I don't dislike Chvrches or anything but they just haven't clicked with me.

Pvris has really won me over with their new singles, particularly Hallucinations. Give that one a shot if you haven't heard it yet

Ugh this week is going to be slow

surprised how every song so far seems to be pretty mellow with acoustic guitars all over this album

Holy shit what a song. I hadn’t really been paying much attention to Halsey since Badlands since I didn’t really like Hopeless Fountain, but this song is amazing.

I’ll take any song that rips on G-Eazy (I assume).

So this is uhhhh, her best album.

Like no question, it's more accesible than Badlands, more interesting and "honest" than HFK. Every song is awesome, I'll write up a track-by-track review soon, but right now Ashley, 3am, Graveyard, 929, You Should Be Sad & Alanis' Interlude are the standout tracks in my opinion.

The song 'Ashley' reminds me of 'Missing' by Flyleaf which is a massive compliment imo.

Dominic's Interlude & Forever are a weird pair of tracks, but they're interesting too. Killing Boys will probably be a fan favorite if I had to guess, because it draws the line between all of the vest parts of Halsey's songwriting.

Really excited to see her play these songs on tour. This is definitely going to be a really special album for her and her fans.

Yeah, the 2-3 most recent releases from this album have definitely made me think we might be getting something special here. For me, "best" album was a pretty low bar since the last one was quite bad and Badlands was ok-ish overall

Ya this is already definitely my favorite from her because I love the songs released way more than anything else she has done. I'm so happy too because I've always wanted to be a bigger fan it just never clicked.

Badlands holds such a special place in my heart that I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to rank it objectively. From what I can tell of the released singles, I think this album marries that indie sensibility/sonic cohesiveness she had in Badlands and the big swings she took on HFK. HFK wasn’t a home run for me, but I said at the time that she is so young and still finding her voice that I was confident album 3 would nail it. I hope that thought was correct because I’m so excited for tomorrow.
