Regardless of anybody else’s input - I’m telling you I wasn’t making those comparisons. Calling on anybody else won’t change that. I can fully appreciate that was what you read into my comments, but that doesn’t make it any more true. I’m sorry it devolved into an argument but I think it should be understandable that when essentially being branded a misogynist over a preference of someone as a person, I attempt to defend myself. Looking back I can see what you’re saying and I get why you feel the way you do about my comment, and I’m sorry if it wasn’t considerate in that regard.

okay imo this is where I have to try and intervene instead of walking away. Literally everyone needs to stop getting so damn defensive. It’s always “Im branded a misogynist!” Or “Of course I get called a racist” or something like that, and the defense walls go up

literally we all harbor TONS of misogynistic, racist, heteronormative ideas no matter HOW much unpacking we do, which is why it’s literally so important to always be engaging in these types of conversations and continuously unpacking and challenging yourself

like if someone comes at you being like what you just said has major history of being used as a misogynistic tactic, your response shouldn’t be to try and argue at all costs that you’re not a misogynist bc you don’t want to be framed that way.

y’all it’s TRULY okay to admit fault and examine our own language and thoughts sometimes.

The defensiveness reeks of notall___ and I say that because one of the ways we fix this shitty racist sexist ableist IST society is to realize we will never be done learning/unlearning and must continually modify our behavior in response to critique. There is always room for improvement.

So no, you may not be some kind of card carrying misogynist, but when you speak and/or react in ways that fall into that category (and you have multiple people telling you the same thing)...maybe stop and take a minute to examine just what you thought you said vs how you actually said it

Yeah, I was probably naive to think those comparisons wouldn’t be drawn, and am a defensive person as it is. It frustrated me because I knew that I wasn’t coming at it from that angle, and it took me a while to appreciate where folk were coming from. As I said before - can appreciate how it wasn’t considerate.
