I probably wouldn't classify all of those singers together honestly but I see why Kiana did. Too many of them have had massive chart and sales success for me to think of them as "alt" anything. Esp since Halsey just doubled down on the irritating aspects of Lorde's persona and sold like 100k first week.

 

Idk why, but I think that kind of music is one of the ones I'm most polar about. Love Lorde, Grimes, London Grammar, etc., but then others like Charli, Halsey and Elle King really irritate me.

 

I don't think Grimes sounds anything like any of those others.

 

I don't really think she does either but when I relistened to a song of hers before I posted and her irritating voice came in I was like whatevs throwing her in. I don't really think any of those artists sound that similar which is why I figured someone would take issue with me all calling them the same thing but they all have a similar vibe and aesthetic thing going on for me. Sales/popularity wasn't really why I grouped them cause lorde and charli have been very top 40 successful

 

I'm late to the party but Skillet until Awake is awesome. Everything after that where they replaced strings for electronic music is just bad and took away what made them special. They still put on an incredible show though. Did someone really compare them to Brokencyde? Hahaha, I guess this is the thread to do that in.

 

Only in the sense that he thinks both bands are trash, it wasn't a musical comparison

I thought parts of the last Grimes album were pretty good, but I couldn't get into the whole thing and I never liked her before.

 

I like debating so I would have liked to jump in and play devil's advocate when people came to defend Brand New.

 

One of my favorite albums, even if the first few tracks are pretty ehh.

I'm unfamiliar with Grimes so I'm picturing Rick from TWD, esp with the iZombie comparison earlier.

 

"Flesh Without Blood" is a legit perfect song yo. So is "Oblivion". She makes good music.
