I can only assume that it didn’t get much exposure due to some viewing it as a cash in? I don’t think anyone expected it to be as good as it is.

The single with J Cole got a lot of attention but the album kind of slipped through the cracks

So this is fun, Anderson Paak has a festival this weekend and just announced the lineup.... but everyone is code names. The first person in the comment section to get it all right seemingly gets tickets. I figured out a few of them, have fun:

Looks like there's new slowthai on the Danny Brown GTA thing too

Danny Brown is in the game too. I mean, he’s already voiced a lifeguard in single player when it first came out, but now he’s himself. Amazing.

No posts about the Clipse reunion? Damn lol

Anyway, if they decide to make music I’m somewhat skeptical, but I think no malice can integrate the religious influence in a really interesting way if done right

Late contender for your album of the year lists. Nice and chilled hip hop/grime rooted firmly in the UK. Murkage Dave is fucking great on it (as he always is) and the beats are almost Mike Skinner-like. Definitely some garage vibes in there too.

New Stormzy isn't hitting like GSAP after first listen. Think the songs I like more were all the pre-album announcement singles.

I think it is decent. Really like Lessons, Rachaels Brother and Handsome. Only song I can't stand is Pop Boy. Mainly cause Aitch has a really irritating voice.

I actually like that one haha. It's definitely a solid album but it feels a lot less immediate. Hope I open up to it more with time.

    What? When did this happen?

Anyway, plenty of "regular rappers" have made overtly religious music throughout their career, and nobody labelled them "Christian rappers" or "Muslim rappers" or "Five Percent Nation rappers", or wondered if they could properly integrate religion into their music. I always think this whole religious rap discussion is a little odd.

it's for Pharrell's festival next year

I'm not outright against it but I think they'd both have to give each other a little leeway in terms of subject matter because hearing songs that are half religious and half numerous metaphors for dealing coke would feel a bit disconnected
