I first saw Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid in a Film Analysis class in high school. We were learning about parody films. When that scene where he makes his famous "java" came on I almost fell out of my chair laughing so hard at how the coffee grounds just kept coming and everyone else in the class was just looking at me like I was a crazy person. The Shining is so damn good. Like I get why Stephen King would be disappointed at how much Kubrick changed of his original vision but come on man get over it, it's absolutely incredible.

I see the merit of both sides. Sometimes the work is so powerful cinematic on its own that not much needs to be changed. Other times, the filmmaker has a different interpretation of the source material and wants to put their own spin on it. The Shining is a perfect example of that second scenario.

Y'all gonna judge me as a creep tbh I didn't want to talk about her age because it was honestly kind of a process I had to work through to be okay with it. The feelings just happened though and the age became completely irrelevant at some point. Also it's not like she's underage or in high school lmao that would never happen. And people clock us both at like 22 when we're together cause I look hella young and she looks older.

She has been through a lot of shit and I know what it's like to grow up too fast too. I keep thinking about all the pop punk dudes creeping on younger women but then I have to remember this isn't our situation at all, we are two people with genuine love for each other, we just happen to have an age gap. I never would have sought her out on like a dating app or something if I knew beforehand, but our connection was kind of fated from the first day I walked into Newbury a year ago and she was working and I thought fuck that's the most beautiful girl I've ever seen and she noticed me too. I never thought anything would come of it but here we are.

I think we meet in the middle on a lot of things because we both were forced to grow up too fast due to our home circumstances, but in some ways I'm more mature (full time job, degree, adult shit) and in some ways she is (communication, honesty, her openness with others). So there's fear on both side, she thinks I am going to get bored and want somebody my age and I think she is young and is gonna get older and not want to do this forever cause I changed a hell of a lot through my 20's. But really all we can do is go through this together and the outcome is what it is. But right now, it's right and we've both seen something in each other that we've never found with anybody else.

I also think as we get older it'll matter less, hell my friend is 30 with a bf 14 years older, my cousin dated a guy ~15 years or so older, etc. My mom is dating somebody ~10 years younger. Just that the gap from 19--->31 seems bigger because 19 sounds very young.

i've never been one to side-eye a large age gap as long as it's a legal consenting relationship, there are people i know who are the same age in relationships and cant get their shit together or act maturely. we have friends who have been married almost 6 years, 3 kids, and theyre almost 11 years apart.
