They used to force that kind of conflict at my summer camp during staff training and it always made me want to die. I knew there was a reason, but seeing outside of the bubble to know it was being manufactured for group building was the wooooorst.

The idea was that because it was inevitable, they wanted it to happen before the kids came so the group would know how to process it and for the directors to see what might be an actual issue during the summer versus just a brief clash. But as someone who hates conflict AND being forced to participate in dangerous activities, it always just made me shut down and want to cry/leave.

 

Nope. We were really loving and inclusive and supported everyone in emotionally healthy ways. hooray.
