I’ve always wondered - how do bands know what songs will go over better live / be good to add to their set list? Like, have they played all the songs live at some point and they didn’t go over well or do they just choose themselves while making the album?

I remember in middle school watching some documentary and the singer of a band saying, “this song will only be heard on the album, never live, too hard to try and sing it live and go as hard as I do in the studio. It would burn my throat out to sing this one live!” And I was blown away to learn that bands know before an album releases that they’ll never play some of the tracks they’ve worked on for months live.

I think it's sort of an intrinsic skill that artists develop over time and after playing lots of shows. And it's obviously not 100% right, it's all subjective after all

Anyone know if the Menzingers recorded any additional stuff like b-sides or covers for this album cycle. I feel like we were really spoiled with ATP having a cover EP, two bsides and two singles, and a couple extra covers.

They did the two song cover release of Thin Liszy and The Pogues on St. Patrick’s Day prior to ATP. That’s probably where the confusion was at.

Seeing the Menz last night fill a 2,500-3,000 person venue was impressive. Everyone there was super into it as well. Glad I could finally see the in Philly.

Hey I was there too! It was a blast. Did it seem like they were running late the whole show? Thought it was weird they didn't go on until 10:20

It was a little weird, but I guess they shortened their set a little bit compared to the start of the tour. It did feel a little short. Not sure if Philly has a show curfew.

Apparently Culture Abuse didn’t play Philly last night and they aren’t playing Pittsburgh tonight. Wonder if the Menzingers figured out the dude’s a creep?

Post for tonight specifically says due to illness, but who knows. Either way I’m pumped, because Homeless Gospel Choir is an upgrade regardless.

Good guy, but a bad dude

Homeless Gospel Choir was awesome. Great show. Got to meet Tom and even Chris#2 from Anti Flag.

The Philly show was definitely a treat. Was so special and cool to see them play to 3,000 people. Glad I got to see them twice earlier in the tour. The shorter setlists right now would have bummed me out. Glad we got Strawberry Mansion and full band Casey this time around!

Was really surprised by the lack of crowd for Tigers Jaw though especially in Philly.

Also some shameless self promotion for my new tattoo

I’ve been listening to Hello Exile a lot lately. Love most of the songs, still think the are vocal recording flaws (hollowness), and instruments sound fantastic.
