damn you're right, i do like k-pop so I guess I don't know exactly where I stand

with k-pop i have no idea who is creating and pushing those artists, whereas with Charli it feels like she is directly trying to sell me something

 

I think it's OK to take things on a case by case basis instead of having an overarching "manufactured bands are bad" mindset.

You're allowed to like some, and not like some, for various reasons

 

that being said, hell yes Charli is "directly trying to sell you something," that's legitimately her goal. She wants to sell us the band she put together, and again that isn't inherently a bad thing.

I also realize that I have a unique place in this whole conversation as someone who works in marketing, where the last 10 years of my life have been dedicated to selling manufactured products to the masses, lol. This show is absolutely fascinating to me from a marketing perspective, the creation of hype before a single song even exists, their use of Charli, of social media, creating buzz... the whole thing is wild and interesting to me

 

I just watched the show myself... Charli was great and I thought everything was really well done, after feeling like some of the music and promo leading up was maybe a little hit and miss...

Also went on to find more of Nasty Cherry’s unreleased stuff afterwards... this is a jam!

 

If I like the EP maybe I will check out the rest of the show, who knows!

 

I think that if halfway through episode 2, you aren't hooked at all, then that's that.

Reminiscing right now about when I was in Poughkeepsie with @Matt and we saw Charli XCX on a weird radio station hosted show where she only performed like 4 songs but we met @Henry and then went to a Mexican restaurant in the back of a bodega at midnight while way too drunk. A great night.

Just finished episode 5 and idk why they even wanted Chloe back in the band! Personally, if someone quit on me 2 months into a band I would not trust them to not do that again at some point. And like, they hadn’t even released any music at that point so it wasn’t even a big deal that she needed to be the guitarist! I feel like she’ll end up leaving one day.

 

Agree x100, it's very frustrating to watch, Chloe was (obviously) the most frustrating thing about the season because it's very obvious she isn't all the way in it. She cares much more about Kitten (ever heard of them??? lol). Definitely should have found a new guitarist, that would have made for good TV as well, the search. I think everyone was just scared of the timing and release of the song etc... anywhoo

 

Oh and @ComedownMachine super interesting tidbit that I had NO idea about. Kitten's original iteration of the band was Chloe and some guys, WELL those guys all left the band at the same time.... to pursue their side band...... FIDLAR. Crazy shit

But yeah, Chloe does seem umm... difficult to work with, haha

 

@Blink182Bouncer I think it's pretty obvious that she just has to be the focus of her projects, and that's OK, Kitten is totally that... in Nasty though... she's not great at being a member of something bigger than her

 

@irthesteve and trying to cancel a session 20 minutes before is totally lame. Extra lame that she was mad the band didn’t take her side

 

infuriating, Charli completely reacted the correct way and Chloe didn't really seem to learn her mistake which was also frustrating

 

Oh I love how Charli went full band-mom mode on all of them lol... The bits about self-empowerment and “defining her own success, no matter who’s in the room” were pure gold.

Big fan of Charli I am... big fan. She is awesome... always keeps it real.
