OMG, I absolutely can't wait for this. That last Hop Along album was fantastic.

(Also, lol at 2010 in the thread title. Gonna be hard to get used to it being in the '20s soon)

I always expected a Frances solo album to delve into folkier, more organic sounds, like Bark Your Head Off, Dog stripped of its punk tendencies. But this single sounds very similar to Bark but pulling from a different sonic pallet, almost like an alternate or parallel take on that sound. I’m very excited and curious about this record, I wonder if there’s going to be much/anything that sounds like an expected left-turn in her discography.

I’d think in writing the songs Frances provably thought they were different enough to think they’re better suited for a solo project. I’d bet the single was picked for the fact that it was familiar. But I’m with ya, I hope there’s some folky stuff on here

Oh yeah, it’s more of an expectations vs reality type of thing rather than questioning any creative decisions. Despite this song following a similar structure, etc as Hop Along’s stuff, I think it would sound jarring *as* a Hop Along song.

This has me doing a Hop Along discog run. Can you believe there was a time I didn’t like Get Disowned?

Didn't grab me quite as much as the first one, but still really good!

  22. missed that the blue LP bundle sold out and they put up a green variant!

the new song is very good, love the way it builds to the end. I can't wait to hear the built to spill cover

Yeah I like them, but I can't help but think that b/c of her distinct voice this could just wind up sounding like another Hop Along album. These two songs sound like they could've been left off of BYHOD

    I don't see a problem here.
