I want the next JEW album to either be their heaviest or their most ambient. I don't really know.

@FTank that's kind true. I guess I mean more musically.

I'd be fine with something more textural/ambient too. Basically I'm just hoping it's not heavy haha

Imagine JEW doing what The 1975 did on their EPs that'd be yummy

The handful of heavier JEW tracks like Nothingwrong and Firefight are some of my least favs so yeah maybe it's best they don't venture into that territory again.

But Bleed American is one of my favs and it's super heavy and aggressive so who knows

Yeah, I would be happy with that also.

Definitely don't want a heavier album from them at this point. Not that interested in an ambient album either, though I'd take something with more slow builds like "Disintegration." I either want their poppiest album yet or their most stripped down. I would be totally cool with a record in the folky vein of "You Were Good."

I'll take anything they wanna send our way. There's no way it won't be great

What's the consensus on Jim's solo stuff a year later?

I think it's amazing and underrated.

I liked the songs I heard him play live last year, but yeah, I never think to listen to them for some reason.

To sort of invert what Chase This Light embodies, I'd love a dark-sounding happy-lyric album. Though, in some ways, Futures is already that. Hm. This band has already explored so much within their sound that I genuinely cannot think of a direction they could go in. I guess I'll second Craig with the "pop or folk" record motion.

I still need to listen to Jim's solo stuff... haha

Oh! Maybe something extremely experimental. Something that's so unlike the JEW sound that takes a lot of risks. Sort of like the Daisy/Lift A Sail of the discography (though you could argue they've already done that with any one of their records, hm...).

hey, looking for a new band to obsess over. how would one go about diving into jew's discog? front to back? or start with ba, futures, and clarity and then expand from there in either direction? thanks in advance.

Oh boy, this is a difficult one. I'd recommend starting with BA and going chronologically from there, check out Clarity and Static Prevails. That's what I did and it worked for me. Then again, I'm not the biggest Clarity fan, so someone who likes that album more might have a different answer for you.

I do not recommend starting from the beginning though, in my experience BA is a great starting place; it's an appropriate middle ground between the two sides of their sound.

I say it depends on what other music you tend to listen to. What are your favorite bands/albums?

Probably depends on what you like. Either Clarity and go forward if you're into emo, or start with Bleed American and go forward if you prefer poppier stuff

Personally, I'd start with Clarity and push forward from there. That's not how I did it, but that's what I'm recommending.

With all these varying answers, it's best to just pick one at random and go. You'll probably love 'em either way!
