I am actually super excited for Raw, the draft on Tuesday, and the effect it'll have on/at Battleground. I tend to read recaps of Raw/Smackdown and maybe YouTube a thing or two, but I'll be going dark on wrestling sites until I have them downloaded and watched.

In 2002, New York State passed legislation that scaled back the regulation of "professional wrestling" in many respects based on a recognition that the activity is entertainment rather than bona-fide athletic competition. Under current New York State law, "professional wrestling" is defined as wrestling "primarily for the purpose of providing entertainment to spectators and which does not comprise a bona fide athletic contest or competition" (NY Unconsolidated Laws section 8928-b[1]). As such, the State does not license individual wrestlers, and Mr. Lesnar is not a licensee of the New York State Athletic Commission. In the context of "professional wrestling," as defined above, the State licenses only the promoter, such as the WWE. Per New York law, among other health and safety requirements that apply to the licensing of a promoter, the event promoter is required to have a physician examine each wrestler and determine whether each wrestler is medically fit to participate.

The question of whether Mr. Lesnar is fit to participate in a "professional wrestling" event is one that will be determined by the application of the professional medical judgment of the examining physician, the policies of the WWE, and the choices made by Mr. Lesnar with regard to his own participation leading up to the event date.

 

I don't really know what the general feeling is on this sort of thing, but I could not care less if anyone is taking performance enhancing drugs for a predetermined form of entertainment. No different than dudes using help to get jacked for a movie role. This is, of course, barring any substances that may render someone unsafe to work with in the ring. I totally get why it's a huge deal in the MMA world, and if it comes back positive, he deserves any and all consequences on that side of things - but if I were Vince, I'd still let him suplex Orton for ten minutes.

 

The problem is precedence. They just suspended their number one full timer for something similar. If it ends up being a substance that the WWE doesn't have on their list, fine. But if it ends up being one they include, they are being pretty big hypocrites if they don't do something about it. It isn't really much of a problem if they suspend him since he is a part timer.

 

To be fair, we don't know what Roman was suspended for, and it isn't fair to assume it was PEDs

 

This is very true, but the thing is, I don't care if Roman uses them either. Was more speaking on personal thoughts on the topic, I guess. If I were WWE, I'd just "suspend" him now, so his first 30 days is up by Summerslam.

I would think he could be the smackdown gm, you assume whoever Shane chooses will be a Vince rival. Stephanie choosing him is a weird choice though and would go along with the other weirdness that's been going on. You would assume she picks someone Vince is affiliated with in a chummy way.
