Wooow. This is so blatant. It’s insane how Dr. Luke keeps pulling the same shit and continues to be employed.

Yeah, I posted in the Jimmy Eat World thread (to crickets) that Jim shouted out Pinegrove on their Livestream performance yesterday (host asked what he was listening to these days, and Jim said 'I've listen to a lot of mellow stuff, I've really been into Pinegrove lately').

Very highly doubtful that many outside of this website and the local PA/NJ indie scene knows the truth about Pinegrove. Blame the fine people at Pitchfork for the general public thinking Pinegrove is an accountability success story.

do you actually think he’s being serious about thinking that’s white privilege?

I don’t know anything about Phoebe specifically, I don’t follow her, I’m just speaking in general terms.

  16. Anthony's hit the nail on the head here. The whitewashing and unearned rehabilitation of Evan and Pinegrove means that the truth of what happened hasn't made its way into public consciousness and probably never will at this stage.

It's disappointing Jim shouted them out but to him they're just another band without the baggage of any allegations because of that Pitchfork piece doing the work of sweeping them under the carpet. In this case there's no way he can know what happened because of the wider narrative surrounding them these days having shifted and the facts about the allegations not being available except to those who actively look for them.

Forgive me if I’m wrong, but didn’t the primary victim (if that’s the wrong descriptor, please tell me) of the Pinegrove situation also want to handle it behind closed doors and then Evan made that weird public post “apologizing” for what happened even though it wasn’t warranted or necessary?

We know what we know about Pinegrove because we live in this little niche area of music and the industry, but the general public outside of the scene is highly unlikely to know about what Evan really did because the victim (again, might be the wrong word to use here) never wanted it to be a public thing in the first place.

Am I disappointed to see Jim Adkins and Matty Healy talking up Pinegrove lately? Of course, but how are they supposed to know what was going on? I mean, the only reason I know that there’s more to the story than Evan has let on is because I post on this website. If I wasn’t on this website, I’d have no idea beyond what Evan has posted on social media and that Pitchfork puff piece.

Full stop if it hadn’t been for this site I’d probably have at least downloaded and listened to Pinegrove’s last record and be interested in hearing the next one. That Pitchfork article was very effective at what it was trying to do.

Trust me, I get it. And have said as much many times on this website, including just as recent as Saturday. But it doesn't make it any less tiring or frustrating to see them (and others) be co-signed or promoted by very respected artists.

It sucks that they 99.9% don't know about the situation (I'd assume Phoebe would be a bit more in tune than Matty). Matty's tweet fucking sucks too, dude is a doofus

Here’s the thing with Pinegrove and why I find myself wondering how to handle the situation. Do I @ these people talking them up and tell them there’s more to the situation with Evan than what’s readily available to the public, even though, if I’m remembering it correctly, the other primary person in the situation never wanted it to be public?
