    hey you lil piss baby

There’s still no tracklist for that right? I wonder if he’s gonna have features again, last record had some great tracks.

I’ve always preferred his instrumental stuff. His tracks always so much better without vocals IMO. I barely listened to the originals on the last album.

Just listened to Monster for the first time in awhile. So glad Codeine Crazy is now on streaming. It really is an incredible song.

Has anyone seen Hip Hop: The Songs That Shook America on AMC yet? It's fucking phenomenal, each episode focuses on one song and its background and subsequent impact. There's three episodes so far, Jesus Walks by Kanye, Alright by Kendrick, and Rock Box by Run DMC, with Elevators by Outkast coming up this weekend

Sounds interesting, though the first ones really should be Fuck The Police and Me So Horny. Cop Killer too if you count that. Those others don’t even come close.

I think Fuck The Police and especially Me So Horny were covered pretty extensively on Hip Hop Evolution. I should imagine they guys that made "Songs The Shook..." probably didn't want to re-tread that ground.

I guess, but it's not like it's the same platform, so not covering them is also kind of odd you know. Of course they still might.

    beautiful and chequered, the end

my guess is they only started with kanye + kendrick because they have massive stan followings that will tune into the show night of to check it out. Gives them a big boost for first couple eps in hopes they stick around

This is true. I might also just be old. I don't see Elevators getting more traction than Cop Killer though lol

True, but they're both programmes aimed mostly at hip hop fans. And I wouldn't mind betting that these days, more people will have access to Netflix than they will to AMC. Most hip hop fans will know a fair bit about the tracks you mentioned because the stories behind them are quite well known. I certainly don't need to hear the same bits about white America wetting their pants about their kids being damaged by hearing naughty words again haha

IMO it's better to tell the story about tracks that some more casual fans wouldn't know as much about.

I hope this is true, but the lack of historical awareness that became obvious when Fresh Kid Ice died was pretty sad.

I agree with that, but then the show is badly named, haha.

Yeah, I thought that the second after I posted it. Cop Killer and Fuck The Police are definitely more well known. Me So Horny is very much a novelty song to most people, so the story surrounding it probably isn't as well known.

But hey. This is Black Thought and Questloves show, who are we to argue with them haha

Fresh Kid Ice deserved more recognition for being a pioneer in more than one way. It's sad he's gone.

I mean when it comes to those classic hip hop songs it’s like what more can be said that hasn’t been said before? I think focusing on more modern songs is a bit more interesting

I don't disagree. "Shocked" is a big word though, haha.
