I love that they managed to get a major "media voice" on their side, and all it took was one super biased article to justify their complete disregard for what happened.

As if I needed a reason to like pitchfork any less than I already did.

Regarding the writing style. It definitely paints an even more manipulative picture of who they are - like trying to reupholster a piss-stained chair.

It's just so damn depressing. Just to see them go on like nothing happened, getting boosted by Pitchfork, acting all cutesie in their social media posts, people still willing to tour with them, etc. It just makes me feel so hopeless, like there's nothing that can ever actually be done.

Sorry, I just have this immense anger right now and don't know where or how to direct it.

  6. Fuck Pinegrove, fuck Evan, fuck Rough Trade Records, their fans and everyone supporting them. And as much as it pains me to say it since I'm a big fan of Big Thief, fuck Buck Meek too.

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

So disappointing. Incredibly frustrating that they’re getting a push from a mainstream media like Pitchfork and even more frustrating at people choosing to open for them. Ugh.

Someone told me that the only reason they’re putting a new album out and touring now is because the accuser apologized for letting things get so out of hand? I feel like that’s 100% not true in any way.

i mean they put out an album and toured back when all of this was going on so i'd say yeah that cannot be factual at all

I obviously could be wrong but I thought they halted touring and that skylight album for like a year when this happened? My timeline is kind of murky with this whole situation.

@leerkat knows the survivor (or someone who does, I can't remember). I assume that that did not happen.

It initially seemed like ESH was taking steps to make amends and do the work to become better person. But then when they decided to make their comeback it turned out that they were no longer acting in accordance with the survivor's wishes and it came out that there were additional accusers who did not get acknowledged at all. So they manipulated people in order to get their platform back sooner than the one acknowledged survivor wanted while simultaneously doing nothing to address any of the other stuff ESH was accused of doing.

And btw there is literally a 0.0000000000000000000000001% what you said you heard actually happened.

Also even if the accuser "apologized for letting things get so out of hand" (which I do not believe happened at all)........ESH still did what he did. That fact doesn't change.

no one over 18 should ever speak in that creepy twee text, makes it so weird considering pinegrove bud is (i think) in his early 30s.

also, love your avi- just got into her last album, it's so good.

I don't think the author necessarily has those views, i think the author is merely calling out those who are empowering her to be skinny, as if it somehow makes her better, stronger, more attractive, more appealing, etc. as 'fatphobia'. it seems like the author doesn't feel that we need to be happy for adele for losing weight, just like we shouldn't be happy or sad for her if she chose to remain the weight she formerly was at. championing someone for losing weight is a great thing, if the person is outwardly expressing desire to lose weight, but simply seeing a photo of someone after some time has gone by and saying they had a "glow up" (an awful phrase to begin with) does i think come with a connotation that you weren't pleased with their former appearance.

idk if any of that made sense but the last line in the article is really all that needs to be said

"Adele always has been and always will be beautiful. She is more than a before and after picture, she is an immense talent and national treasure – this, not her body, should be the focus."

If someone makes a purposeful effort to lose weight then what’s the problem with congratulating them on achieving their goals, I don’t understand the point of this.

  23. username

    hey you lil piss baby

The point is that fatphobia fucking sucks. And while it not be relevant in the case that that writer is suggesting, it is something that isn’t addressed enough and certainly should be!

As someone who has struggled with being overweight my entire life, I more than understand the damage that fat shaming can have on people. I’ve been through it. A lot. But if someone sets a goal to lose weight and is able to actually achieve that goal then that is something that should be celebrated. It’s ridiculously hard to do. It’s one thing to write a piece about why fat shaming is wrong but it’s another thing entirely to make it seem like people shouldn’t be happy for Adele for achieving her goals. I’m happy for her for sure, wish I could do the same for myself.
