Yup, same here. It wasn’t bad by any means, but I’m not sure we needed a sequel.

  2. Super bummed that The Lighthouse doesn't appear to be coming to my local theater.

I think they're doing a third. I remember reading somewhere that it was conceived (or maybe just evolved into) a trilogy.

Forgive me if it's already been discussed, but has anyone watched Haunt? I've heard decent to good things. I didn't see HellFest but I was told it's a better version of that. We went to Kings Dominion this weekend and aside from their halloween event actually being called "Haunt", after doing some interactive haunted houses I would be primed to watch a good movie about them.

So I chose eight movies that I've never watched for my October, I have two left but so far:

Hereditary was FUCKED up and great.
    Midsommar was also very good
American werewolf in london was fun. Liked it more than expected.
    Evil Dead was fine.
Evil Dead 2 was fun as shit

Still have The Descent and the original Suspiria to watch before the weekend

I enjoyed Hell Fest, but yeah Haunt is kind of a better and smaller scale version of that. It's a lot of fun though! Pretty tense and brutal at times too, definitely worth a watch.

Oh man, I went to KD’s thing last year — so fun. Haunt is a blast, though, definitely check it out.

it's that slow burn kind of uncomfortable, I definitely felt some horror/suspense, but it's not a movie I can confidently give a straightforward description to? haha, my friend put it the best I feel, it's as if David Lynch and Kubrick's The Shining had a baby haha

Watched The Curse of Frankenstein last night and while I didn't find it to be as fun as Dracula it was still a solid effort that didn't feel like a retread of the original Frankenstein film.

Just watched Brain Damage and I like that the plot felt like an outlandish reflection on the dire consequences of drug addiction with a splash of comedy and horror in equal measure though I have to say I enjoyed Frankenhooker more but it is still a solid effort.

I also just got through the post the Arrow Video release of An American Werewolf In London which is not only a brand new restoration on Blu-ray but has a whole host of features. Love the brand new artwork for the cover, which is also on the other side of the original poster and I am having a hard time choosing between the two.

It sure is, not even one of those ludicrously expensive versions either as it was only £23.

Yeah, so glad I found out about them. My bank account isn't now that I have forty films from them but I sure am haha.

I have to actively avoid them and Scream Factory for this very reason haha.

I can't help but look, get far too curious. I still have two more films from them on pre-order with Robocop coming in November and then The Exorcist III in December.

So did you see the twist coming?

I always wondered what someone watching for the first time was thinking was happening. I was so young when I saw this the first time. Back then, it was the biggest subversion in a slasher/horror movie but a kid would never catch that. They paint Billy the bad guy, then make him seem like he's not the killer with the call to Tatum's house, cloned cell phone talk etc, then they kill him, then HE'S THE KILLER with a partner. I love it.

I think one of the best scenes in the film is when they have the "motive" talk with Sid in the kitchen. After Billy goes on his amazing meta rant about horror, He has what comes across to me as a mood swing in the moment, lets his emotion show and tells Sid about the affair her mother and his father were having. The look on Stu's face tells us he didn't even know that detail, and thought their motivation was much more simpler. From there, the killers fall apart and you realize the entire set up was Billy's doing. Stu is a pawn.
