I'm agnostic, so much of modern Judaism is tied to Israel and exceptionalism it's like no thanks but I like to believe in karma and having a purpose because being aimless is no fun and scary

 

Yeah. Like I mostly push against the idea of organized religion. I feel like, sure, it can help some people, but it too often goes against the true teachings. Fuckers like Joel Osteen should be the first up to the guillotines.

I can kind of relate to this but I do identify as christian, believe in god, been baptized and everything. I was brought to church as a kid but fell out of it in high school because I became aware of all the social and societal hypocrisy. There's also A LOT of traditional christian beliefs that I personally do not agree with or acknowledge. And i'm very against trying to shove religion down anyone's throat.

But i can also acknowledge that there might not be a god or any type of higher power. everything i believe in might be proven wrong and i can admit that.

 

I just struggle with how the world is and there being some higher power just letting it all happen. Like free will will result in some shittiness, but cancer and all that other stuff? I just don't know.

And then there's the issue of needing religion and believing there's something after death to keep you from going full monster, strikes the wrong chord.

My advice for the day is to keep questioning and make your own decisions about what to believe. Judge from what you've seen and experienced to inform your beliefs.

Maybe there's life after death or something--or not and we just end up in the ground and we're done. One can be comforting that maybe after 80 years or whatever of suffering, something better comes after. Or maybe it's more comforting to believe that once you're dead, you're dead. I dunno.

 

Exactly. We're out here ruining it for all the other organisms, but because we don't perceive them as intelligent, we don't care and just assume god made it all for us.
