Got just under a couple of hours in on The Outer Worlds and it is highly enjoyable with a high level of customisation, solid visuals, great score and an abundance of loot that you don't have to grind endlessly for.

 

Got a refund thank god - their policy was ‘if it’s open you’re not getting a refund’ but I just said I couldn’t possibly know that I can’t play it if I hadn’t opened it. So relieved but that means I’m not gonna be able to get the ENGLISH version of the game for quite some time. Wish devs made language downloads or something a thing for instances like this.

 

The magazine hasn’t been healthy (because GameStop hasn’t been) but their online content actually has a pretty decent following and gets a lot of engagement. I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of those people move over to this new thing. But it’s not a guarantee that they will of course. I just hope they do well personally because I enjoy what they do and hate that people who do good work are struggling while people like PewDiePie, Ninja, and Dr. Disrespect thrive.

 

Is that really true though? I know GameStop is having big problems, but if GameInformer were actually doing well, GameStop should be less rather than more likely to make cuts there. Unless of course they’re dumb, which they might be.

 

GameStop’s management is definitely dumb. The problem is that they still treat GI like an old-school print magazine first and foremost, as opposed to trying to shift focus to being an online platform only. I don’t think they really know what to do with it, and since they don’t know what to do with it they think it’s a place where they can save some money by gutting the staff.

 

Damn, UK needs to get done better providers.

 

They do! It’s called Virgin Media. And they routinely upgrade your package for free. I think I was on 300mbs with them before I left the UK. The internet in my area was bloody incredible.

generally it's a very good idea to buy after a tumble that severe, but also I don't see anything particularly good/interesting in Ubisoft's future unless the next Assassin's Creed is a next gen exclusive GOTY candidate

You’re probably right. I love print video game magazines though, or at least sites with a similar approach. I’m not really into most of this post-Giant Bomb (though I do like them to an extent, or more accurately I like Jeff), post-YouTube stuff people consume now. I like some podcasts, but that’s really it.

 

I think that’s a good idea. Even if Vivendi at some point succeeds in swallowing them, you’d probably profit.

 

I generally feel the same way, which is why I’m a big GI fan haha. The content on the site is very much in the same vein as the magazine (which I still have a subscription to through my GameStop rewards membership).

lmao I do need Jesus but also faster internet. I moved into this house on a lease with dad and brother like 6 years back under the assumption that we'd be gone in a year or two so we didn't sign up to any contracts with big internet providers who lock you into long-term contracts. Estate agent recommended some local internet people who would help suit our situation and it's been shit ever since the first day lol

 

I finally was able to play but not until like an hour and 20 min after the game went live

 

There was this British gaming magazine called GamesTM and it was truly amazing. So much work was put into that thing every month. Sadly it was shut down last year.

EDIT: I mean look at this. They did this AFTER they were shut down. It was a special magazine.
