I would not put Thursday in that group at all

 

Like I get they were a “scene” band but idk I thought they did a damn good job shedding the scene and making some really great music that didn’t fit with the scene anymore

If you shit on people's taste, grow up.

It can be fun/funny some times in jest, but if you're serious about hating a band, get over it. There are literally millions of artists, just find one you like.

Who cares if a certain genre is "meant for kids" or whatever. If it sounds good to your ears and bring you enjoyment than who gives a fuck?

It's like shaming someone for sleeping with an unattractive person. You're not the one who's fucking them, why do you care?

 

It's pretty relatively typical too other than like how everything's actually ranked which makes my anxiety about it more stupid hahaha I just hate potentially subjecting myself to some of the attitudes here

 

I don’t think there’s such a thing as “shedding” it. I mean maybe if you get popular enough to be a different level like Paramore or Fall Out Boy but otherwise

Thursday were great, anybody around back then knew they were doing something different. Worth the legacy they left behind.

I’m not saying Thursday weren’t great. I love Senses Fail too. They were a scene band and certainly never got popular enough to leave it

 

I was def a scene kid wasn't as much into pop punk

BTBAM was my gateway into that """scene""" (it's such a loose word but you know what I mean) but I liked all kinds of terrible stuff

 

I think Joe meant Thursday made room for post-hardcore as a genre, bigger than the label of "scene" which dips into many genres.

Correct me if I'm wrong Joe.

Emery was the band that got me onto Absolutepunk cuz someone who was an AP regular sent me one of their songs over AIM and I was like "Where do you find this stuff" and he dragged me there

 

One of the Blink fans is 17 which blows my mind

 

I just don’t think of Thursday at all when I think of bands like TBS, Blink, Senses Fail. I just think it’s an absolutely different “scene”, on absolute punk maybe they fell into that grouping but in general I don’t think they did.

Thursday were experimenting with post-rock and shit by the end so I think it’s safe to say they transcended the whole emo tag
