I think he means there is a record coming soon, with Katherine marks producing, which can be confirmed by following their Instagram accounts.

Thanks for the info. Is it a weird experimental one off or a very Manchester sounding song that just isn't part of LP 6?

looking forward to some new MO. It’e be cool to hear some old elements from this band collide with some new elements they’ve been doing.

Also, are there any songs from Death of Dick Long soundtrack or is it musical score?

I guess I misread this thread.

    I was talking about Weatherbox.

This MO scoop is news to me.

    Definitely t bone.

A bit slow and meandering with a soft drum beat. Sounds nice but probably won't find myself returning to it much.

Why don’t they end a song like this with some heavier guitar and louder Andy? It’s kind of reminds me of Mean Everything to Nothing without the big parts.

These guys used to use a lot of song dynamic shifts which brought in a lot of emotion shifts in songs which I loved (thinking slowing it down in Shake It Out to catch you breath, or the slow build up eruption in The River). I get you don’t want to use that trick every song, but I hope they bring it back for some stuff on their next album. They are one of the best bands at doing it because Andy can pull it off going softer whispery vocals to fill out.

still nice to see them put out a single though.

I feel like they still did that a lot on their last album. I don’t think the dynamic shifts are going to go anywhere with this band.

Those of you who don't have an Amazon subscription aren't missing much. Surprisingly boring song from these guys.

    Which songs?

They tip toe on that idea for The Moth, Lead SD, The Grocery, and The Silence, but I don’t think it goes to the boundaries of the songs I mentioned using both Andy’s voice and the music.

they’ve done it on all their previous albums to a greater extent than Black Mile in my opinion.

I really liked it. It's weird to see people saying this type of song is boring when Andy has always been just as much about his slow ballads as his loud epics. Sonically, this song would have fit nicely on Church of the Good Thief.

With this song and I Know How To Speak as their last two singles we have kind got slower songs.

Bad Books was great for Kevin and Andy acoustic fix. That was a a great decision.

The My Backwards Walk cover kinda has that dynamic shift I was talking about. Kinda starts slow and quiet quirky. Goes from Andy whisper to slow build singing. The the rest of the songs has the two versions of his vocals until the end. Builds to the drums.

There are definitely dynamic shifts in this song, and prominent ones at that. I think this song exploding into big guitars, shouted vocals, etc. wouldn't have really worked, the song's not really asking for that.

Kinda grosses me out a bit. Not necessarily the 'exclusive' part, but amazon seems like a weird fit for these guys. Suppose I'll give it a listen when it inevitably releases wider, though from the sound of it there's no rush.

I love the ballads as much as the jams, but out of the context of the album they tend to fall flat for me. Slow singles never get the chance to resolve over the course of a dynamic ~40 minutes, so it just sounds like another great andy solo track, of which we've got a metric fuckton now.

Glad they're working on music, though. Loved Black Mile and stoked about whatever is next.
