Agreed. Unless I’m missing something, it just sounds like every other platform to buy digital movies.

It just sounds like AMC is opening their own EST store, right...?

I thought it was supposed to be movies out of theater that aren't available elsewhere yet? If not then what's the point?

It doesn’t specify anything about that. It just says they will get films once they finish their theatrical runs. The Kino Now program mentioned at the bottom is pretty cool though, and they do claim to offer films with some exclusivity.

If early or exclusive access is what AMC will offer with this, it’s a very weird choice to leave that out of the announcement entirely.

    This stuff is so embarrassing.

If you as an individual decide to only watch newer films, that is fine, but a film critic needs to know the history of the medium to discuss film with any sort of seriousness or relevance.

Please tell me who that is so I can make a mental note to never read another word from them.

I don’t think Shea Serrano would consider himself a film critic, the lens through which he approaches movies is more as a layman/fan, but yes for someone who wrote a book about movies to talk about any pre-Star Wars movie as being “not great” is exasperating

He wrote a book about movies and doesn't enjoy things from the 70s. He wrote a book about basketball and said he can't appreciate the 80s rivalries. I'm more offended that he was a teacher earlier in life.

He may not call himself a critic, but he is the best selling author, which means people are getting their knowledge from someone lacking knowledge. Siskel and Ebert used to be a cultural institution and now we have stuff like this.
