I respect Alan Wake more than I enjoy it. Mostly, I just respect Remedy Entertainment always trying new things in their narrative driven games, even if it doesn't work out. They're like Naughty Dog if Naughty Dog actually gave a shit about interesting gameplay mechanics.

Not a single Forza Horizon game on the list though. What a joke.

What about it turned you off?

 

My crippling bias to TLoU, one of my favourite games of all time.

I found it incredibly engaging and yeah, while the gameplay mechanics aren’t groundbreaking, it never detracted from the gameplay experience in my opinion. Especially when the story, setting and soundtrack are all brilliant.

Saying that, I’ve never played any of the Uncharted games other than a brief 5 minutes with 4 (my brother has it), and the only other ND games I’d have played are Crash Team Racing and the Bandicoots haha. So yes. Bias.

 

Got a soft spot for Uncharted, especially the PS4 ones, but I still maintain the biggest mistake ND made with that series was focusing on Gears of War-style tps mechanics. Story? A blast. Characters? Wonderful. Feeling of adventure? Unmatched. But the disconnect between extreme amounts of shoot em up combat vs the tone the story wants to have is a pretty hard flaw to overlook sometimes.

I was thinking platforming+exploration+puzzle solving with more limited combat, but sure lol.

If we can all critique a bad game in RDR2. We can all critique another bad game in Uncharted

 

Uncharted has far more redeeming qualities than RDR2

 

Literally Tomb Raider 1 is more harmonious than the Uncharted games (especially the first) with its story and gameplay.

 

Even though the gameplay in Uncharted doesn't make sense in context w/ its story, at least its fun enough to play because it's basically a c/p of Gears with some MVS5 thrown in the last couple games. RDR2's gameplay has similar issues as Uncharted's, but also feels cumbersome to play sometimes on top of that.

 

Where’s Dan to tell us every game sucks besides rogues

I could start a discussion here that would turn this thread into a dumpster fire. I could make the hate for RDR2 seem benign in comparison. Instead, I'm just gonna say TLoU is a decent enough game and leave it at that.

Rogues are truly the only solid genre tho

 

So my PS4 threw this SU-42118-6 error when I was trying to update to version 7.0 and internet seemed to imply it was likely a Blu Ray player issue that I'd need to get fixed and I was like but I tried disconnecting the external hard drive and doing the safe mode update described here Updating PS4 System Software using Safe Mode and it worked

So I'm currently breathing a nice big sigh of relief.

 

1v1 2v2 me in Halo 2 and if I win you can never play another rogue again.
