I'm on episode 11, and it's definitely the worst of the 3 seasons of Marvel shows that Netflix has put out. It stated out fine because Punisher was great, but the middle was just boring. It's finally starting to come together a little at the end, but it's all too little too late for me.

 

This fight at the end of episode 3 is fantastic. The way it's shot during the stairway sequence was impressive

 

i agree, though it was a little too on the nose regarding trying to match the feel, while topping, the hallway scene from episode 2 last year

 

Yeah there was obviously an idea that this is "their thing" now and need to replicate it again. Still a great scene though

 

I think that's my favorite fight from the season. I think everyone's gotten a little film-school-porn with these tracking shots over the past few years though. Every show has one.

But, yeah, that was my favorite. Some of the others bugged me because you can tell the stunt double can't move fluidly enough, and the stuff in Season 1 with the black mask is fluid, brutal, and some of it is just fantastic ... and they don't rely on close-up moves as much because they don't have to.

 

I don't get the criticism for the middle, I thought it was better than the end. I really liked everything to do with the Punisher's trial and him in prison.

 

I did notice in a lot of the fight scenes in this that it seemed like people were deliberately missing punches and stuff when they were supposed to, felt a lot more apparent that it was choreographed to me than the first season.

 

Granted, I'm still on episode 10, but my favorite fight scene is definitely the one where Stick shows up to bail them out in episode 8 or whatever.

 

Philip Silvera and Chris Brewster do most of the fight sequences. I think they got really booked in the last year because these feel rushed. Especially when I loved what Silvera did with Deadpool and last season of DD.

It didn't help that I watched Ip Man 3 recently and god damn the way Donnie Yen moves is a revelation.

 

yeah I loved the fights last season and in Deadpool. I still haven't seen any of the Ip Man films, I need to.

Honestly liked S2 a good deal more than 1

 

I liked both seasons a lot, but I didn't really know the characters at all before this series so I'm just enjoying getting to know them all.

Punisher is a way cooler character than I ever realized. Just wasn't exposed to comics much when I was younger.

 

Finally finished it last night and now I'm tired at hell today.

Jay Bernthal was perfect to me as the Punisher. He met all of my expectations and I would prefer his own show over any of the other ones.

DD2 wasn't great by any means, but I still found it to be better than all of Jessica Jones' season.

Didn't expect to see Fisk--that was crazy and the entire thing with Nobu became so silly most of the time.

 

Yeah, I know it's been said plenty but Bernthal killed it as Punisher.

Honestly was never the biggest fan of his. Thought he really overacted his roles in TWD and Fury, and with Punisher being a character in the same vein I just figured we'd see the same portrayal. Pleasantly surprised.

 

I was seriously impressed with his portrayal for two reasons. 1) I'd only ever seen him in Wolf of Wall Street, so this was a significantly different side of him. 2) He really made me sympathize for the character, and I've never even remotely been a Punisher fan before.

 

I find myself in a weird place with Daredevil. Usually I'm in on something when it nails the characters, even if everything around it doesn't totally work. Here... I thought both Bernthal and Yung were both quite great, but they couldn't quite make up for the decreasing returns of the show itself.

 

I don't know what it is, but Netflix (also the Winter Soldier arc to a lesser extent) is just absolutely killing it. I've never liked Marvel, but damned if I'm not loving the current state of Hell's Kitchen.

 

Just finished up and, honestly, I still really enjoyed this season. Season 2 just lacked the constant intrigue and depth of a villain like Fisk, but I think they still got quite a bit right. It seems like season 3 is poised to get pretty interesting with how they set it up for the future.

 

Finished this last night and agree with @Blimp City Hero

 

I told you Bernthal would be great At a certain point he became the only reason I kept watching, aside from the Matt/Elektra scenes.

 

I'm wrapping up the finale now. I got way to excited about the implications of Foggy's meeting. Also had a moment of pure geek joy when I saw Matt finally get that new toy.

 

Just finished the episode with Frank in Prison.... That was some insane stuff. I still like this season a lot. I don't think it's near as bad as people make it out to be. It's basically all that's keeping me interested in Marvel at the moment,

 

Are you not looking forward to Civil War?

 

I am, mostly because I think Winter Soldier is so far the best Marvel movie so far. I hope there is weight and consequences though, which I think there will be. My biggest complaint is that nobody stays dead really. There is too much plot armor in the MCU so there isn't as much suspense. But Civil War looks more serious so I'm interested to see where it goes.
