properly don't understand how efe ambrose is a professional footballer. genuinely think he'd struggle in the league of ireland, i've never seen someone with so little brainpower on the field.

most embarrassing result in the history of the club, thank fuck there's two legs and one isn't on a 3g pitch

He's not going to make us play sexy football, but do you see Portugal or Iceland fans complaining? No.

Iceland play better football than England tho.

Digne to Barca? Weird, he's awful.

Yeah, I don't thik its that bad of an appointment, if it happens. I'm sure he'd pick less players based on reputation, and would make us hard to break down. We've tried playing fancy continental football, and its failed. Say what you want about Big Sam, but his teams are organised and know their jobs. Can't hurt to try it.

I think we need an English manager, as just a fundamental rule, and the only English manager that I'd put as (maybe) better than Allardyce is Eddie Howe. And he may well be just a flavour of the week thing.

We know what we'll get with Big Sam, an organised, disciplined, effective, well-drilled side. We will continue to struggle against the better teams, and it won't be pretty football, but I'd be relatively confident that an Allardyce side would have beaten Iceland, Slovakia and Russia.

This all sounds familiar to whenever we hire a new national team manager. English managers are shit, and they're not going to make the shit national team better.

Always hire the best man for the job. All i will say is look at what happened when the RFU hired the right man despite being foreign.

Who else was out there or rumored for the job?

I think when it comes to national football, every nation should be manged by someone from that country. I think it kind of defeats the point of international competition if the FA were to go hire Jose Mourinho or something. We should make do with what we've got, and unfortunately right now, we haven't got a lot.

obviously, being from a smaller country, I vehemently disagree with this. countries should hire the best man for the job imo.

Alright lads I can take a hint, I'll accept the England job. First thing I'm going to do is recall David Beckham for those pesky set pieces.

The union job? A few coaches from the premiership. RFU had to buy out his Stormers contract to get Jones, but he was the right man to take the team forward.

Unfortunately The FA will always take the easy option after Ericssen and Capello. At least whoever gets the job will have a massive pay day.

Hiddink and Klinsmann have been rumoured. Whether either were considered or interested, I'm not sure. Wenger was also floated, but he wouldn't break his Arsenal contract.

The English managers rumoured were the usual bunch; Southgate, Hoddle (which is utterly bizarre), Bruce, Redknapp etc.

when your main choices are big sam or klinsmann i think getting out with big sam is probably for the best in all honesty.

I take back what i said about big Sam. With the start of the UEFA Nations League soon, hiring a manager who can fight off relegation is a great move by the FA.

I played competitive football for the first time in about 9 months today. I was fucked after about 40 minutes, and now I think I have strained every muscle in my body.

    I feel like Owen Hargreaves.
