Really cool that they've done this. It feels like they've really taken back ownership of these songs, and when their discography is completed, it'd be great knowing that we didn't miss out on good quality versions of these songs.

Going to the show today with two very casual brand new fans and I'm trying to explain these demos to them and they just don't get it haha

so the lyric changes in Brothers, the big one is in the chorus "There's an east swell coming and it's howling off shore" is now "There's an east swell coming the wind is howling off shore" any more?

They keep saying wait so they put out a new record this week? And I'm like well no these are old songs just fully realized and they were like why can't they just function like a normal band

Can't wait to dig into these reworked demos.

Wonder if they will release a proper, HQ Out of Range soon also?

Hopefully they put these up on Apple Music soon. They've been pretty good about keeping their latest stuff on there.

I don't understand the excitement for this release, as these songs have been around for a long time now. All they have is a fresh coat of paint. It's not like these are new songs the band wrote 3 months ago. The poor songwriting on IAAN (an actual song the band wrote recently) may still show itself again when LP5 sees the light of day. You get what I'm saying?

You don't understand the excitement people feel when a band that barely ever releases anything releases something?

But is it really a true release if the material has been around for years now? The fresh paint and physical aspect of the release is cool - that's worth being excited for, but I guess I don't understand people having (or seeming to have) a level of excitement comparable to hearing a real new song by the band.

I think a lot of us have been waiting for years to hear these demos properly recorded, and I'm sure none of us ever thought it would happen. I think that's enough to get excited about. And the fact that it came out of the blue just adds to it.

full band version of Brother's Song is great, but it doesn't sound right. That song was meant to be acoustic ha.

I don't understand your complaint here. Why do you care whether other people are excited by the release of re-worked and re-recorded versions of these songs? That doesn't mean they won't also be excited by brand new (ha!) songs from the band, it just means that they are excited about the band revisiting songs they demoed 10 years earlier and shaping them into what they want them to sound like now.

Thats the Vinyl release I'm assuming.

Surely not a complaint! My point was just that I wanted an explanation why people seemed to have a level of excitement (for songs that have been around forever) comparable to the band releasing a brand new song / EP / LP....whatever. I guess someone kind of gave me that explanation. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if I was a massive BN fan, I'd appreciate these songs, but at this point I'd be more frustrated / chomping at the bit for an album because it's been so, so long, not because I don't want or appreciate these songs revisited.
