It reminds me of The Glass Ocean one great ep then fade into obscurity.

Credit where credit is due. They are fantastic. And there actually are, to my surprise, a lot of great, young bands in Ireland at the moment that don't get much exposure. Much more so than in Germany or France I feel.

Glassjaw is just so good, especially Worship and Tribute. Hope they're still putting out something this year.....???

For those of you that have Spotify their Discover Weekly playlist is actually a really good tool for finding new music. I generally like almost everything they suggest.

If French as a language, or Quebecois in this instance, is not a deterrent, so can highly recommend Les Vulgaires Machins.

Mid 90s sounding political punk with very interesting lyrics.

They've also released a really rather great acoustic album.

    I'd add Capitaine Revolte.

Been listening to a lot of Margaret Glaspy's album "Emotions and Math." Think 70's adult rock, mature lyrics, millenial cynicism. Her voice is really rich and pairs well with her guitar work. Great album. Really looking forward to watching Glaspy's career.

I am looking for some recommendations for some beach type music. I've gotten into The Wild Wind who released their first album earlier this year and it has that kick back 80s vibe and for some reason the sound also just really resonates beach to me. If anyone can recommend something along those lines or just anything that has like a coastal vibe to it, I'd really appreciate it.

Also I have a pretty extensive 80's playlist so I may be good in that regard unless it's something more obscure. That said I'm open to recommendations from any era.

Mumiy Troll, especially the Caviar and Pirate Copy albums. The "Dolphins" track on Caviar but basically, anything Mumiy Troll is totally Vladivostok. Lagutenko grew up on the beach and hey, all his stuff has a serious beach vibe.
Cool people too. When they're not raising money to save tigers and panthers, they're raising money to protect dolphins and whales.

I have terrible, terrible luck with my discover playlist. I'm happy if I get one good song a week.

oh my god, I'm back on my bullshit Prestigious

This week my discover playlist has a song that's on my 4 most played album since I started using Spotify according to last.fm... I've discovered a few bands using it, but it's mostly not very useful to me.

Not a recommendation, rather a request for recommendations. I've been trying to put together a list of critically loved albums over the past 15-20 years I've not listened to. I've got a huge drive in front of me tomorrow and later this week, so I'd much appreciate some help compiling a list of things to give a spin to. Currently, my list consists of the following:

Interpol - Turn On The Bright Lights
Bloc Party - whatever that Bloc Party album is that everyone loves, I don't remember
    Mark Lanegan Band - Bubblegum
Against Me! - Searching For A Former Clarity (the only AM album I've not listened to fully)
    Destroyer - Poison Season
Sharon Van Etten - Are We There

Most of the super ubiquitous darlings, like TPAB, MBDTF, Arcade Fire, a lot of punk essentials, stuff like that, I've already gone through, but there are a lot of beloved albums that are considered essential listening that I have yet to get through. Some of the ones above aren't considered "essential," but they seem to be important in some regard. I want to expand my horizons a bit, I guess. I don't know if this is the appropriate thread for this, but I didn't see another one and I figured creating a thread exclusively for this would be a bit much - if there is, I can repost this there and take this one down, no worries. Thanks in advance for your help, guys.

Such a great EP -- reminiscent of the heavier side of ManO. Someone recommended them on AP and I was pretty blown away. I was bummed when I saw they were done, too. Strongly considered making a trip down to see their final show in Kansas a few weeks back.

    Gone waaaay too soon.

If anyone has anything else by these cats (or anything like it) please share.

I found out one of my good friends from middle/high school is in a band now, they just put out an EP and honestly its pretty good pop-punk. First time I listened to it it felt really refreshing. This is my favorite song, if you like it you can find the EP on Apple Music or Spotify!

You like Circa Survive, O' Brother, Indie post rock etc? Check out Tacoma, WA band "The Bomb Shelter". They have 2 EPS and 1 full length and are about to release a brand new EP called "Before I Wake" August 23rd this year. Be sure to keep an eye and ear open for that when it drops. Thanks

Like Prog or Jazz-Fusion? Check out Thank You Scientist's latest record Stranger Heads Prevail (While we are at it their debut is fantastic as well). So many great moments sprinkled throughout each and every song. AOTY contender for me.

Agree. Normally those features are either way off the mark or just too obvious. Spotify seem to do a decent job. Better than their related artists for some reason.

Anyhow. I've really been on a huge Hot Water Music binge recently. Anyone care to recommend more gritty, rootsy punk rock bands?
