This album is so good, and all of the original singles that they released flow so well with the album as a whole. Perfect follow-up to California.

Waited for this one to show up on streaming and holy shit - not the same experience as when California dropped, that was more of a celebration of the fun pop-punk of my youth returning. This feels like the start of something new for them; finally getting comfortable with the new lineup.

When I look back on California, sure Skiba is there, but it didn't really have his identity in the songs - like anyone could step in and replace him on that album. With Nine, you can tell he was a major contributor on these songs. I hear bits of AK3 sneak in, maybe a little bit of the Sekrets as well.

Another observation I had while listening on my ride home today - one of the big complaints I hear about the new blink lineup is the lack of the Tom DeLonge guitar riffs. And sure Skiba has a different playing style, but Mark's bass parts have more than made up for that on this album. Blink has always had some pretty killer bass lines, but on Nine it kind of takes that lead role that maybe Tom would take with the guitar in the past on some of these.

Oh, and Pin the Grenade might be a Top 10 blink song of all time for me. We'll see what kind of staying power it has. But so far, appears to be an instant classic.

Yeah, even on CA there are some awesome/classic bass riffs that go unnoticed and are very underrated.

Happy Days was probably the only single that didn't blow me away prior to release, then fast forward to today, release day - and I just had a really shitty day at work and on the way home I was just feeling panic, like feeling that no matter what I do at my job it isn't going to be enough, I'll miss my numbers, and will be let go. Just negative, shitty panic thoughts.

And as I'm going down this path in my mind, sitting at a red light, Happy Days pops on and I hear:

"Hey kid, don't listen to your head
It only fills you with dread and with doubt
Left lookin' for an easy way out"

I smile, say "Hey, thanks Mark" and immediately feel much better.

It's funny - like I can totally see that song cheering high school me up about feeling left out or a social outcast, or whatever else felt like the worst thing ever in high school and here's 32 year old me getting a pick-me-up from it because of a bad day at work.

My Target was sold out. They still had 8 copies of Zach Brown though so that's good I guess haha. Picked one up for 10 at Newbury Comics

I don’t understand why people say this albums very samey.. it’s a complaint I’ve seen a lot and heavily disagree with

Let’s be real, @BTDandFeelingThis bought enough copies (including a nice surprise vinyl purchase for me :) ) to at least land this thing in the top 20 haha

Yeah anyone who says they can't tell songs apart is absolutely full of shit and they just dislike blink.

Or they weren't giving blink their undivided attention.

  11. The similar half time choruses on a few songs stood out on my first listens though. Otherwise, it's much more diverse than California which I appreciate.

I feel like if you take the best half of this and the best half of the new angels and airwaves you could put a playlist together that would be like a cohesive blink album. Both new projects sound similar production wise and i think will play off each other well.

I think Skiba saying "My god" on Pin the Grenade is the best 2 seconds of the album

I don't think NINE is going to have much staying power for me other than a couple tracks.

I am so glad they took the extra time with this album! Although I liked California it became hard to listen to front to back as there were some fillers that I would rather skip. This one I enjoy the entire way through and reminds me a lot of how I felt when untitled came out! Top tracks right now are Hungover You, No Heart to Speak of and First time but it's constantly changing!

i remember by this point when California was out, i feel like a lot of people were almost universally like "yeah Sober should be the next single, that'd make the most sense". of course it didn't pan out that way, but there's so many candidates for next single from this album that its hard to just settle on one. one moment i'm thinking Hungover You would be great... but what about Pin the Grenade.. or Heaven.. or No Heart.. will be interesting to see what they go with.

Last night's show was awesome! Definitely ran later than usual, Weezy came on late but did his full set and Blink didnt come on till 10.
Really impressed at the crowd's reaction to Wayne. Place was completely full and on their feet the whole time. Blink sounded tight too. I was skeptical from some of the youtube clips I saw, but Enema sounded so good. And it felt like that whole arena knew every word. Even when songs like Wasting Time and I Really Wish I Hated You came on it felt like a lot of people were singing along.
