Without any spoilers, which matches are most worth watching from Clash of Champions?

 

Becky/Sasha, Rowan/Roman, Seth/Braun

AJ/Cedric was good, but short. Also it was on the preshow. Smackdown tag titles was also good.

 

PPV was super meh. Bunch of ok matches that weren't PPV quality with a few storyline advancements. Braun's chance is Defintely gone at this point. Fiend is only thing I really care about and they'll ruin him if he doesn't win the title or unless its a non finish. Kofi's reign is a gigantic yawn and a wasted opportunity. I could give two shits about the Roman/Rowan stuff except good to see Harper back only to job him out.

Putting Cedric on the preshow and not giving that match more time was also incredibly stupid booking if they are trying to get him over.

None of it was awful,except the booking is super generic and nothing is exciting like it should be considering SD debuting on fox in less than 3 weeks. I guess they think a draft will save them lol

 

I'm not trying to give hot takes here or anything, WWE is absolutely unwatchable for me right now, everything feels so stale and cheesy (besides fiend) it's really hard for me to devote time to it. I'm stoked to watch NXT live Weds though.

 

Also Seth is boring af as top champ

Seth has been boring since the night after he cashed in.

 

Seth just isn’t a face and they need to stop trying to have him be one

 

There's just something about his tone and charisma as a face that destroys any credibility

 

My buddy and I turned it off after the Orton/Kofi match because (what a fucking surprise) Randy put us to sleep.

 

This match will be great

 

I suggested the same thing to some friends of mine. Just have him beat the shit out of Seth then vanish after a while. Let Rollins live with the threat of him coming back to finish the job at another given time

 

If you go this route, you need to establish some other motivation for the fiend. Otherwise, it just buries one of the main titles as something people don't inherently want or value. I don't see them going that direction.

 

The universal title is already pretty buried considering they've given it to Brock like a billion times

 

lol oh i know, but still. At least their biggest star "wants" it. If they build the fiend up like crazy, throw him in a title match and he's just like "meh, i'm good" that's just weird.

Why does the fiend want it though? Simply because he’s a wrestler? I would say his character thus far hasn’t shown he’s a standard wrestler with the same goals as others.

 

That's kinda the issue with putting him in it so early. They haven't really established his motivation for doing anything yet. I have no idea WHY he wants it, but I am left to assume he does since he's competing for it. If it was just "he's coming from Seth" then he wouldn't have phrased it as he's facing the winner of Seth & Braun.

 

I guess they could do some sort of regular Bray wants it but the Fiend doesn’t care about it kind of angle. Or the Fiend knows deep down Bray needs it but Bray couldn’t do it type thing. Either way I don’t like it. They should have gave old Bray a real run with it back then

 

Agreed. I think it's a mistake having this program this early. It'll suck if the Fiend is just another wrestler 6 months from now

 

The reality is that WWE is a world where everyone wants the belt at all times, but very few ever have a clear reason why.

And so trying to create a character who doesnt want the belt basically doesnt work. LU had a world where people's motivations for titles made sense (money + attention), but there were also characters who didnt care about titles and whose stories worked. Attitude Era had a group like the APA that didnt seem to care about titles and just wanted to fight...but current WWE has nothing like that.

The Fiend is probably a strong enough jumping off point where they could change all that...but, that would require follow through that doesnt exist in a company that rips of the script hours before the show starts.

 

Random thought: are we getting WALTER on NXT this week? There's no way he's coming to America just for Evolve, right?

 

Personally I was pretty excited about his face run, but it’s just stale at this point. His promos are soooo cheesy and lame.

 

LOL most of the tickets that were sold for ROH's PPV next week are on Stub Hub.
