Quality over quantity.

 

Plus manny of ghost town was like I should start my own label and they be my first band I sign

 

It just seems like they sign bands and let them collect dust.

 

FBR seems to put all their effort into 3 or 4 bands and leaves many without anything. Like the Swellers were on FBR and lost steam from the whole thing.

So true like so many of my fav bands on there had problems like the cab arttm ect

 

To anyone who's been to a date already, which labels have tents this year? And what are labels selling? Looking for shirts and CDs!

 

Cool wonder if they would do it again

 

I remember when they signed that Oh Honey band, and I thought "They got something here". Then it seemed the label just gave up on them.

 

Epitaph
Fearless
Pure Noise
Hopeless

I know that one label was doing a CD and shirt combo. Not sure on price I just saw it in passing. I think it was 25 bucks.

 

I also picked up two samplers. One from Pure Noise one from Epitaph. The Epitaph one is really good I know it has Good Mourning America by letlive and By My Side by The Interrupters. The sampler is on YouTube but the artwork is cool as well as having a physical copy

 

Just got out of bed and getting ready for the show today. Getting breakfast around 8 then it's off to the venue!

 

A little late, but work is dead so here's my write up from July 8th - Camden, NJ

Waiting in Line
Payed $30 for parking which is absolutely outrageous. Tried to use the port-a-pottys in the parking lot out of desperation only to find none had toilet paper, but I digress. He heat was nearly unbearable and we saw two young girls carted off before doors were even opened. Saw a few bands walking around promoting their sets including The Heirs, and With Confidence - who had a guitar and we're playing some of their songs. People trying to sell us stuff was worse than ever before I swear. I managed to avoid everyone besides one group who showed me their music. They were pretty bad but respectful. ROAM came up and talked to me and promoted their set.

Wage War
Pretty decent crowd for an 11:30 set for a band less than a year into their career. Most of the crowds I felt like we're dead until past 3 or 4 PM and this was no exception. Blueprints sort of let me down but I think they have a lot of potential to improve.

State Champs
Swung over to the the amphitheater to catch State Champs set. Every time the main stages have been in an amphitheater it really brings my day down so much and I hate that it has to happen. SC were probably the most disappointing band I saw that day and I almost forgot that I had by the end of the day. It's possible that it's because it's my 4th time seeing them since Novemeber.

Oceans Ate Alaska
The band had a really good sized crowd which I was really happy to see. Really glad to see them finally getting their career rolling after so long in stasis. Once again the crowd felt so debt up by the barricade and the pit wasn't anything special as well. I did see one long haired dude going hard whilst smoking a cigarette. That was pretty metal. OAA didn't sound as good as on their album and James voice wasn't the best. As with WW, I feel like the band can reach much bigger heights if they tweak their sound on the next album.

Like Pacific
Not their hugest fan but they always come off as really genuine guys. Most songs seem to run together. The girl I was with was really into them but their was little movement the entire set besides for the final song "Distant".

The Story So Far
The amphitheater setup made it impossible to get down into the pit and even the lanes heading down were crowded to a breaking point. Anyone trying to get by had to push their way through and the day had reached peak sweatiness. The crowd was pretty active for almost all of the set from what I can see. I would still really love to see them at a club show as their festival performance is a bit lacking.

Cane Hill
My friend I was with left before TSSF's set to attend Jenna from Tonight Alive's (her favorite band) TEI session. The price tag seemed a bit high to me at $25 but she described it as one of the best experiences of her life and was really emotional afterwards. I passed the time by checking out Cane Hill's set on the full sail stage. Their crowd was about what I expected for their size but they put on a real tight performance. One of the tightest bands I heard all day actually.

Broadside
The only band I saw on the Posiden/Cyclops stages all day, and their crowd size totally warranted their apparent bump up. The crowd was still a bit dead at this point, there wasn't even any moshing to Playing in Traffic which really shocked me. Only Coffee Talk got a really big reaction. Their vocalists is a bit too much for me on stage but otherwise they were one of the bands I saw all day.

Real Friends
We ran back inside the amphitheater to catch Real Friends set at 4PM. At first they weren't letting anyone in the pit and I was yelled at for attempting to jump the barricade. Eventually they let us in and this is where the day really started to pick up. Crowd interaction was great besides a few rude people in the circle pit. I had heard them on the $5 Tour but the new songs sound great live. Everything this band does seems so genuine and lighthearted, and they deserve your support.

Tonight Alive
Less Than Jake was playing over on the left foot stage and that style of music has never been my cup of tea but they put on a fun show. They pulled a kid up on stage and had him hitting beach balls into the audience and then the next song had a girl come up to make out with him. The girl I was with was absolutely disgusted but it didn't bother me quite as much. Reel Big Fish joined them on stage for their last song.

Anyways, despite me not knowing any of their songs Tonight Alive was one of my favorite performances all day. Jenna is wonderful on stage and the whole band sounded really tight. It's always a cool feeling seeing someone see their favorite band. My friend somehow caught their setlist that was thrown which was a cool moment. We had intentions to sprint back to the monster stages and catch as much of Every Time I Die's set as possible (worst conflict of the day) but on the way my nose ring fell out, she saw some friends, and we were hounded by Monks. We made it but only for their last song.

Sum 41
We wandered around for a half an hour or so looking at merch and what not until I had to leave my friend to see Sum 41 while she saw Knuckle Puck (horrible conflict as well). Seeing this band who really got me into this genre was an incredibly nostalgic moment and I was almost surreal. I made no attempt to get into the pit as I knew it would be impossible and I'd be leaving right after. I was not the biggest fan of their setlist, would have loved to see Walking Disaster, Screaming Bloody Murder, or Nothing on My Back. One thing I did notice about Sum 41 was how dated things seemed. Their references, stage presence, even down to their merch seemed straight out of a different era, and not in a good way.

With Confidence
Had the biggest crowd out of any band I saw on the full sail stage that day. Probably my favorite band I saw. The stage banter wasn't forced at all and was genuinely funny as they made fun of Australian stereotypes. My friend who had never listened to them before seemed to really enjoy it. At this point (7:10) all of the surrounding tents had begun to close down but WC kept theirs up until the end of their set. I was the first one there and bought their 7" split with As It Is, which has a cool Street Fighter theme. They said they would be meeting fans at the tent and shortly after a substantial line had begun to form.

Issues
After saying goodbye to my friend who wanted to beat traffic i found a spot in the amphitheater to watch Issues close out the day. I have kept up with the band since before it was even officially announced and remember listening to King of Amarillo the second it dropped. It was really cool to finally be able to see them and wild to see how much they have grown since then. The only other chance I had they conflicted with Beartooth. I have seen it get some hate fun the Pokemon themed set was really do and timely with the release of Pokemon Go.

Damn. Yeah, guess it was time of day & market. For the most part, the crowds were pretty big all day at main stages.

 

Taking Back Sunday in 2012(I think?) was a huge letdown. My only time seeing them live and they sounded awful. I think I stuck around for 2 songs and just walked away.

 

Geoff Rickly coming out and singing during their set in Milwaukee was one of my most memorable Warped Tour moment of the 13 years I have been going.

 

I didn't enjoy at all TBS in 2012 but that had nothing to do with how they sounded and everything to do with the fact that it was 106 degrees out while they were playing

 

I don't know much about this guy but I think this was an interesting watch.

 

I went to Hartford yesterday. This was my 5th Warped ('07, '09, '11, and '15) and despite being a bit older than the general attendee I had an absolute blast.

I was able to check out The Maine first, which was really the perfect band to start the day with. I don't love them but am familiar enough with their stuff for it to be enjoyable. I left Four Year Strong for Knuckle Puck who had a pretty impressive crowd for being on one of the smaller stages. Four Year Strong was ripping it up when I left...they've still got it and for a festival crowd like this are spot on.

I saw Real Friends afterward and in truth, I don't understand the draw with this band. I love pop punk but these guys just don't do it for me. I don't think they had a bad performance, but they just aren't my cup of tea I guess?

New Found Glory were pretty good, but I left early to see With Confidence. My girlfriend has been pretty into them of late so I left NFG with a song or two to go to check them out with her...I was actually a bit impressed. They lean a little pop for my liking, but they put on a pretty fun set.

After a break I spent 2 1/2 straight hours at the main stages for The Story So Far, Yellowcard, PVRIS, Sum 41, and Sleeping With Sirens. TSSF is just not a good live band...I feel like they have fallen off so much in recent years. I remember seeing them in 2012 opening for The Wonder Years and they were spot on. They were garbage yesterday. Yellowcard was awesome...this scene will really miss them. PVRIS was spectacular as always; could definitely see them being a Warped headliner after their next album comes out. Sum 41 was awesome. I'm not super familiar with their deep cuts so I am glad they stuck to a greatest hits setlist. I didn't like "Fake My Own Death" when I first heard it, but damn it was fun live. Sleeping With Sirens...eh. I'm definitely not nuts about them, but they just seem kind of flat. I think I would've eaten it up 10 years ago but they just didn't do much for me yesterday.

Went to the amphitheater to have a quick rest and saw Sykes & Masked Intruder. Sykes had about 12 people watching them, which kind of bums you out to see. I had never heard of them, but it just feels weird to see a band playing a rock show in front of a classroom-sized crowd. Masked Intruder were a bunch of fun. I had never listened to them either, but they put on a pretty good show and I've been spinning a few of their songs at work this morning.

State Champs closed the night for our date and it was awesome. This was my 5th time seeing them since last July and while I like them they aren't my favorite band per se, my girlfriend is a huge fan. We had an absolute blast. The pits were chaotic but fun and they put on an energetic performance as the sun set.

Overall it was a great day. I thought I was too old for Warped after last year, but Warped proved me wrong yesterday. The only complaint I'd have is when 6'3" 225 pound guys think it's a good idea to crowd surf...I am 6'1" 185 and at no point in my life have thought it was a good idea to throw myself on top of people. Baffles when even bigger dudes try and do the same thing. Anyway, it was an awesome day. I am super sore today, but I am still buzzing...what an awesome show.

 

I love oh honey tho I knew mitchy before that and such nice ppl I wish they were doing more cuz right now I haven't seen any new music or touring
