Wow the 90s sucked

 

Savage Garden is one of the closing theme's for Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. Its such an odd fit, but I love it.

Shake It makes me think I need to actually check out Pablo's music. I really love their verse.

 

Flaming Lips and American Football are both cool

Fuck Shake It is so good. I want this to be a radio hit but it will never be one

 

I want a lot of Charli songs to be hits, but she just doesn’t have the push.

 

I just think those are essential 90s material is all! 90s to me is the push and pull between bands cleaning themselves up and making their most beautiful music (eg The Flaming Lips with The Soft Bulletin, Fugazi even) and other bands staying as messy, dirty and lo-fi as possible (Modest Mouse on the first two, pretty much all of Silver Jews and Pavement's output in the 90s)

 

I liked the vast majority of this album, but ngl:

When 'Shake It' started I kept wondering "When is the song going to start?"

It never did.

 

Kinda feel the same way... Silver Cross is a rager though!

 

Oooh gotchu, yeah none of those except Lips are really anything I enjoy

 

Yeah for real. The new Blame It sounds like it could be a prime hit but yet

Shake It is legendary

 

She was clearly the best part of the track, but the lack of chords, riffs, melodies, or any other musical hallmarks besides percussion remained frustrating.

Also idk why Charli repeats the same thing over and over with increasingly uncomfortable modulatiors and reverbs for the entire first minute of the song.

 

Because it sounds insanely awesome

 

13 and When the Pawn.... Much respect.

 

The beat on Shake It could go harder but I think I like how reserved it is. It feels like it lets the artists shine a lot more.

 

cos uhhh Charli just does whatever the hell she wants? you really think someone pressured her into making the song the way it is? lmao hard to imagine the label going 'hmm good song Charli but we think it'd be a hit if you took out most of the drums and applied increasingly esoteric effects to your voice as you repeat this hook'
