That yell of "I know I deserve worse..." Is great...was he just moving his hand around or flipping off the audience?

So yeah they played 1996 as others have already said.

    They must have replaced limousine.
Also it's common sense I guess but I didn't realize it until it was happening that since they weren't the last band they didn't play an encore.

As I said already, in Miami he began to play boy who blocked his own shot and then stopped because of his guitar being out of tune. Well they didn't play it tonight either. So here's hoping they will play it tomorrow since they are last again.

Also, I waited 2 hours in the blistering heat and paid $10 for early entry but it was all worth it seeing them from barricade. Holy shit.
Also Jesse and vin were so much more lively and crowd-interacting than in Miami. They were laughing and joking and it was awesome.

During that song? No... No one knew it
During most of the set? Much different.

This is so awesome, I love 1996. Does nobody have footage of Noro on this tour though? Searches only get me the footage from like two years ago which I presume was the album shows tour.

I do find dropping 1996 into the set a bit odd, even if I would love it myself. Nobody will really know that one except die hard fans and at venues that large I guess personally I'd always just keep it to a "greatest hits" kind of setlist.

Was an awesome surprise to hear 1996 last night, I was up on the barricade in front of Vin, so I didn't notice people not being into it.

    Because I was into it.

I mean I wouldn't expect the people who came primarily for Modest Mouse to know a leaked demo Brand New only recently officially released.

They aren't a nostalgic act they don't have to just play "greatest hits"

Really hoping for a Leaked Demo song at the Philly show. 1996 or Nobody Moves would be sick.

there's a different video from last night where Jesse talks about playing "those songs" again so I've been unreasonably holding out hope they'll mix them up the rest of tour and play Nobody Moves tonight..haha.

So did anyone else get the 'I am a nightmare' 12" vinyl? Obviously like all things brand new nowadays, it seems extremely cryptic. Has anyone been able to figure anything out from the release?

I got it, didn't see much of anything that was cryptic about it. Perhaps the lyrics card that reads "You'll Find All The Answers, Something Special for Someone Special" with the Gravestone 2018 below it, but even that is a stretch / just seems like Brand New being Brand New and stoking the fires for no reason. Maybe hold it up to a UV blue-light though? Ha.

After further inspection, there does seem to be some contradictory things with the lyric card mentioned above: the back-side of the download code reads (if you look very, very close over the graphic) says "Brand New Never Finished."

Wow amazing find. I didn't spot the 'brand new never finished' on the download card. I just was hoping there was some secret message in the etched lyrics on the vinyl.

So do you believe all the brand new dies in 2018 stuff? This 'brand new never finished' message seems to contradict that. Unfortunately, I am of the opinion that they truly do plan to hang it up after releasing one final album.

It seems likely, doesn't it? My gut tells me yes, at some point you have to believe the band is genuine when they say they're finishing up soon. It's just logical -- they're getting older, Jesse is a father, the members all on good terms (whereas the may not have been 3-4 years ago) -- it'd be nice to go out on top: thousands of fans still coming to see you, probably a final album that will chart higher than anything they've ever released...it makes sense. With that being said, considering other comments they've made (in the vein of we'll still be together just not for fans and now with the download card) I think they just go away for a while. Not a break up because they still like each other, so the band isn't done forever, maybe they'll play a one off here or there, maybe a few reunion tours or anniversary shows for albums down the line.

So basically to sum it up, do I think they're done as a full time band after 2018? Yes. Does that mean I think they will never release anything again or won't ever play another show after 2018? No, absolutely not.
