I LOVE how they wove the No Heart to Speak Of melody into the closing track

That chorus on " On Some Emo Shit " is some of Matt's best work.

Yeah.. I never judge an album fully until I give it my proper listen through my $100 Sehnheiser headphones... and yeah.. This album punches. Very happy the album is a lot more cohesive than I thought it would be.

 

The lyrics to No Heart To Speak of are so Skiba.

The chorus on “On Some Enzo Shit” is so god damn good.

 

I'm like oddly relaxed in waiting to hear this. I know 100% I'm gonna love this based on everything in here and it's kinda cool pretty much having no idea what to expect.

Seeing almost zero complaints about Feldmann is awesome, cause him approaching an album in an Untitled-type process always scared me about him going way overboard, but it sounds like he reined himself in (or blink shut down a lot of weirder ideas haha)

 

Per Matt's performance on the album, he makes the same face as your avatar in almost on every song he sings on

 

Feldy crushed it on this.

 

Pretty backheavy album if you ask me. Would make for a solid EP if they trimmed some of the fat.

 

There are way too many great songs here for just an EP.

 

His vocals on "No Heart to Speak of" are just.... I fuckin love "Is This Thing Cursed?" But his energy on that song is A for Awesome.

 

NINE makes for a really solid full length.

 

That ending siren sounding effect at the end of On Some Emo Shit is NICE.

 

I've given the album like four listens since last night. I like it very much. "On Some Emo Shit" feels like a lyrical spiritual successor to "Apple Shampoo". I like that they play with loud/soft dynamics on a lot of the songs for their verses/choruses, particularly "The First Time". "Black Rain" is such a dynamic song, Matt's voice is great, it rules. "Darkside" and "I Really Wish I Hated You" are still highlights. "Pin the Grenade" fucking rips. Matt's vocals on the "No Heart to Speak Of" hook are rad. I like the short fast songs, "Generational Divide" and "Ransom" a whole lot. "Hungover You" is dope. The melodies on "Remember to Forget Me" are all great.

Lyrically I love so much that the album is diverse and "adult", for lack of a better word, even when some lyrics fall flat for me it at least has a lot of character throughout, the way blink has always done pre-breakup and that I always found lacking post-reunion. This is the best blink-182 album since Untitled by a wide margin, and I'll be listening to it a lot this year. I'm very happy.

 

It’s so funny to me how the leak of this album killed my hype of the Hella Mega Tour and new songs from Green Day/FOB/Weezer. This is just miles ahead better than the tour announcement and songs released from those bands. And I was stoked to hear those.
