Maybe it’s not his fault that he went to a team that wasn’t willing to play his way, but that’s most teams that are gonna expect you to drop back under center and throw vertical half the time. Not just the Titans. NFL football is more focused on establishing the run in order to open up the playbook.

 

Then dont draft the guy that doesnt do that! Titans are mad dumb for that. Obviously Mariota isnt absolved of any blame for his play but they have totally mismanaged him too.

 

Why does it sound like yall are fighting about something yall agree on again

 

That his footwork, and his inability to envision the right spot to place the ball when throwing with anticipation, are big problems at the NFL level even if it didn’t matter in college

His flaws exist regardless

Still so happy that Dak played perfectly. We only had one bad play the whole game, allowing that 60-yard run from Barkley. Otherwise we were incredible.

I remember the FSU Oregon game cuz this dude swore on his life to me that Jameis was the future and was gonna destroy that nobody Mariota and was a MAJOR asshole to me for believing otherwise and I've been messaging him since that day with no response

Catering to weaknesses is one thing, but at the NFL level if you can’t anticipate passes after 5 years in the league it’s probably time to move on. Even the Andy Dalton’s can do that by the time they are veterans.

NFL defenses are just too fast & smart to expect WRs to sit open long enough for the ball to get there. Ball has to be there already by the TIME they are open in order to get some first downs / scores. That’s a flaw I’m particularly critical about. NFL teams are not wrong to expect scrambling quarterbacks to stop defaulting to the easy answer / risking injury, and start planning ahead with choreographed footwork and reads.

Lamar Jackson making me proud because he is playing within the system and anticipating passes now. I think it’s gonna elevate him so much because it focuses his talent in the right ways.

This may be the last year you can say something as general as "NFL teams". Murray just led a two score comeback in his first game, Mahomes is the GOAT, Minshew stepped right in for Foles, Lamar threw 5 TDs and 400 yards on 20 attempts, Baker.....I'll give it a week on him. Teams are finally realizing that you can win with anything so long as you have the coaching for it.

The game last night won't be indicative of the Steelers season in my opinion. They haven't won in Foxborough since 2008. Brady and Bill own them. Just how it goes.

Tomlin should have to answer for not being prepared after an entire off season and always getting outsmarted by the Patriots.
