Mark‘s low register is really rough

 

Wow, just read on Vinyl Collective that the recent 20th Anniv. EOTS vinyl pressing is censored. Not just WMAA, but the entire record.

 

I like the song, but like why are there no guitars :( :(

I posted about this yesterday. I read about it on Reddit though. Super bummed about it. Will definitely be returning it.

 

Glad I didn't order that vinyl. Also I'm not listening to the new song until I have the album. I have enough great music to hold me over for the time being.

 

Censored vinyl still has the Parental Advisory sticker on the cover, haha. Classic!

 

Yeah, Mark’s lower register always takes me some time to get used to. He has a delicate lower register and it really shows in some parts in this new song.

 

Glad it wasn’t just me

 

This feels the most unique out of the 5 songs we’ve heard so far. Kinda love it. Blows my mind that there are people out there who prefer Tom to Matt.

 

I was starting to feel it already, but with this latest song I think it really rounds out/solidifies the direction of this album and how different it is from California. This miiiiiight be a good one.

 

I already learned all the guitar parts, and it is actually cooler than you'd hear on first listen. The verse riff is fun and simple, there is a cool backing guitar harmony on the chorus, and the bridge riff is great.

Listened to this new song once and holding off until 9/20. Initial impression is that it isn't doing much for me. I'm not against the choice of production or anything. I'm enjoying the band playing with these various sounds, but it's just an ok song. Hopefully it's a grower within the context of the album.

 

Sorry, I was being sarcastic. That was in reference to people's criticism that "Blame It On My Youth" had no guitars. haha.

But yeah, agree. They instrumentation and mix of this one is actually kind of interesting and different. Can't wait to dig in with some better speakers or headphones later.

Ugh I love Matt’s backups on the “won’t you say something”. This song was begging for him to explode and take over on the bridge.

 

Agreed. I think this is a biggest missed opportunity with this song. I still really enjoy the song as a whole, but that would have been the icing on the cake.

 

I felt the same way about BIOMY. I sort of got over it, but it always felt like it needed a big punch at some point. Although the little isolated Matt moment was cool.

 

The song is absolutely growing on me.
