I honestly would say yes. The goal is to win it all and the 2018 Saints didn't despite being able to. And I'm so sick of that call lol. Refs suck, everyone knows, don't put yourself in a position to be screwed. Don't go 2-5 in the Red Zone lol.

I think bringing up the Saints might've proved @EntryLevelDave's point in a different way...I legit forgot the Diggs touchdown happened until the touchdown miracle was mentioned here. That was a MASSIVE play and that team was written in to go to the Super Bowl and then got stomped by the Eagles, and then I completely forgot about them as they missed the playoffs and now no one knows what'll happen to them. I'd deem that a failure no matter how important it felt.

lol also the Diggs touchdown happened because the Saints player played it as poorly as you can.

However I also think the Cowboys are a good enough roster to win a Super Bowl. I just don't think they will.

I mean, one Saints defender tackled another Saints defender while missing Diggs, and we're not gonna call that play a failure? lol

  9. Saints blew that game when they failed to bury the Rams for their early mistakes. Then throwing an INT in overtime. Yeah, it was a terrible job by the ref but Saints blew it.

I think in the biggest games, the QB matters A LOT. It's just where I'm at. Other than Big Dick Nick which is the flukiest of all flukes, the last batch of Super Bowl Quarterbacks has all been top tier. Wilson, Manning, Rodgers, Brees, Brady, Manning Again (Eli had fucking game don't talk to me.) Flacco is elite because memes are fun, but the road is significantly harder if your QB is even just middle of the road.

Exactly! So the Saints failed lol

  12. Is it possible to say rings are the way to measure success but not having rings doesn't make you a failure?

    I think that's where I stand haha

If you're a Dolphins fan, would you trade Dan Marino's career, for Eli Manning's?

  14. Do I have to look at Eli's face?

    The rivalry is back on

No no no please don’t be calling a Saints team with a Hall of Fame QB, a Super Bowl this decade, and a fairly sustained run of success over the past 10+ years “okay”

They are very good, and not being a historic dynasty is not the line between good and okay

No, I'm saying Dan Marino is arguably one of the best quarterback's of all-time and if i were a Dolphins fan i'd trade it all for Eli's 2 rings in a heartbeat lol

I feel like the roster has also had massive depth each of those times though. There's the "defense wins championships" adage which I don't necessarily buy altogether but it really comes down to the better constructed team (and the healthier team, at that) 99% of the time. The only time I'd argue otherwise is the Pats-Falcons Super Bowl which was the Falcons choking and Brady playing out of his mind, so I guess you can make an exception for the greatest QB of all time. But all of those Super Bowl teams have had solidly constructed teams that could survive injury around that QB. And the Cowboys have a TON of depth: at OL, at RB, in the front 7, even in the secondary. WR is the only position I'd argue they don't have much depth at. I think Dak is arguably much better than Peyton Manning was in the Broncos-Panthers Super Bowl, and while he's definitely not up there with past Peyton/Brees/Brady/Rodgers, his team is good enough that they can win.

I don't think it's "ride the defense" but I do think Dak is good enough with the team around him to win.

The Cardinals also has a better defense than what the Bucs are working with this year

I mean, you just pointed it out that they've got the ring. At least one. I'd argue they probably should have more because Brees is ELITE, but hey, shit happens.

The point i was making about being "okay" is honestly the Bengals. They had a run of always being kinda good and getting in the playoffs but never really making a dent or being a big threat. That is the nightmare to me.

Also football comes down to the minute details so often hahaha like pretty much anything can happen. To contradict both my argument AND yours, the Vikings beat the Saints because 2 Saints players tackled each other. The Saints were a much better constructed roster than the Vikings IMO AND Brees is a much better quarterback than Keenum, but any given Sunday.

All it takes is recognizing where the play can be made on a snap - or not. I think Dak can EASILY do that and we've seen him do it, it's always just a matter of whether or not he does that day.

If you wanna talk about flukes that 2011 Giants team was the flukiest of fluke teams lol

No doubt they played their ass off during that playoff stretch but I am firm believer you replay that postseason 10 times they lose the first game 9/10 times

Def, and it burns my soul sometimes thinking about it, but man those Super Bowls they just beat the Pats. Didn't do enough
