And yet he still plays the same position that has a higher injury risk and shorter shelf life than any other position

  3. I mean, it’s really hard to win a SB. I don’t think rings is the only way to measure success even though that what everyone’s goal is. It’s not like they’ve been throwing out money in free agency. They built through the draft and now are rewarding their guys. They’re a well-balanced team.

  4. And he’s 24 years old. I’m not completely on board paying a RB that much but comparing him to Gurley is silly. Gurley dropped in the draft because of the longevity of his knees. His injuries last year were nothing new. The Rams knew it when they drafted him. They knew it when they paid him. It’s not an apples to apples comparison.

Comparing the current highest paid RB in the league to the former highest paid RB in the league is far from silly

In fairness the Rams also spent tons of money on mediocre older defensive players at the exact same time, it's not like they extended young guys with promise like Martin/Frederick/Jaylon etc. They broke the bank for like everyone on the team and now half the team is broken, we'll start seeing the actual results of it soon. But I don't see the same scenario happening with the Cowboys as immediately.

  7. It is silly because Zeke does not have and has never had the injury risks that Gurley has.

  8. Zeke will remain a top RB for majority of the contract, if not all of it.

Just because he doesn’t have the injury history that Gurley has doesn’t mean he doesn’t play a position that is at higher risk of injury. You keep missing the obvious point I’m making

We’ve consistently built through the draft with one or two flashy players over the past five years. Dez and Romo’s contracts finally being done has freed up a bunch if money and has led to us being able to sign a super young core and have plenty of money remaining. Outside of random health issues, our biggest issue now is just Garrett.

  11. And you’re missing my point. You can’t not pay someone because “they could get hurt”. It’s football. It’s barbaric. It’s overall a dumb sport because every player destroys their bodies.

He does have off the field red flags and plays a physically demanding position. I wouldn't give that money to that player for that long, personally, but I get it since he is very good, young, and unlikely to face repercussions if his off the field issues resurface (ie Tyreek Hill)

Either way, the Cowboys are a lock to win the NFC East imo.

My opinion: Zeke contract is massive and I probably wouldn't do it. HOWEVER if you draft as well as the Cowboys have since 2013-ish you can do pretty much whatever you want with your paydays.

  16. Nice talking to you :)

I disagree. Give me matchups against the Falcons and Seahawks over the Saints and Rams any day. It’ll be close though

  18. I guess the Panthers shouldn’t have paid Cam Newton. Should’ve known he could get hurt playing football.

I don't know, I have this awful feeling things aren't going to work out for the Eagles like they will for the Cowboys.

You wanna talk about what’s silly? Comparing the value of a QB and a RB like they’re worth the same thing to a team

  21. I didn’t day they were. I’m saying I don’t agree with using “he could get hurt” as a reason not to pay someone when that player doesn’t have a history of injuries. At any position.

Idk I do get using that as a reason when it comes to the wear and tear of RB. I think you can argue either side for him really.

He's taken 868 carries at RB and taken contact on a lot of those snaps. That's a LOT of wear and tear, not to mention 135 receptions and all the time he's spent pass blocking. That could catch up to him.

But then again on Swoos's side: He's already done all that without getting injured.

We’ve been lucky he hasn’t had major injuries and has been able to play through the minor injuries he’s had. And again, the ~3 years we now “have” to keep him on the team frees up a lot of wiggle room to move on if he does get hurt or stops being elite.
