As I get closer to the NYC AVA date I’m tempted more and more to sell my tickets. Idk why but I was hyped after rebel girl and I’ve lost it all. Still looking forward to blink at Barclays 9/20 though.

 

AVA has a new song coming out tomorrow I believe and although I haven’t seen any videos of the show last night people have said he sounded really good. Plus he played parts of Aliens Exist and I Miss You.

 

people astound me. if there was half the outcry over them working with an abusive piece of shit as there was over, like, a silly music video, we probably would've seen some actual impact.

 

I don’t think I’ve seen one social media comment asking the band about the collaboration (that doesn’t mean they aren’t out there but so far I haven’t come across one). Either people don’t know about it yet or don’t care enough.

I feel like the best way to ask the question would be during one of Mark’s Q&As on Twitter or during a live IG chat, which I did a few times yesterday unsuccessfully.

I meant the sentiment I was describing was present in the band itself, not only this thread.

 

Wild how many people can get worked up over an inoffensive music video but can’t summon the same energy to speak up about them co-signing violence against women and homophobia.

 

Probably because the XXX song isn't out or even confirmed and most people don't even know about it. If it does get confirmed then hopefully they'll be forced to explain themselves. Then again we know how that'll go. "I never saw him act like that/He was always nice to me/He was so talented/just a kid/such a tragedy" etc etc. I think it's sad the lack of empathy some people have meaning as long something didn't happen directly to YOU or someone you know it doesn't matter. Not saying I'm Mr Perfect Morality and don't willfully ignore shit occasionally too because I still want to consume stuff made by horrible people sometimes but I'm not exactly proud of it either.

I think it's an optimistic read that we'll ever see the same level of outcry over the shit that actually matters. I'd love to be proven wrong on that point though

 

The only reason I know who XXX is and what he's done is through this website. I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of Blink fans do not know who he was.

 

Nothing has made me hate the word "cringe" more than hearing people describe this video

 

Yeah I'm not exactly holding my breath either but if there WAS going to somewhat of an outcry I don't expect it until the song comes out. Even then most idiots would probably care more about working with a rapper again rather than anything else.

 

Yeah, the majority of people won’t care. Like @Preserved Moose said it’ll get shit for the rap thing long before any of the abuse stuff.

Well yeah haha. I was referring more the thousands of people shitting on the Darkside video on youtube or instagram comments who I doubt have a clue.

 

It's true that most of the fanbase will talk about the rap instead of the fact he was a terrible person.

You can do both.

I dislike the video and I think it's really bad the band collaborated with him. I think the collaboration is much worse than the video but I can still talk about both things.

Well, XXXTentation overshadows pretty much everything regarding the band so if you care about it we shouldn't comment on literally anything else regarding the band.

You can comment several things. Even if they have different weights of importance.
