How did they not prepare enough server space/power/whatever the term is for this? Did they not expect it to be massively popular immediately?

 

Nintendo thought the Wii-U would sell 100,000,000+ units. This is not a company that knows what they are doing, nor does the company they licensed Pokemon out to.

 

I thought Niantic handled that and not Ninty?

Getting all the Eeveelutions is gonna be a pain since it's random what they evolve into

Went for a walk. Caught 12 Pokemon (I couldn't get Zubat and I'm mad) with the use of incense.

I really like the Pokestops -- found a really cool Muhammad Ali mural on the boxing store nearby that I had no idea was there. I think this is a fantastic chance to share public art with people. Maybe in the future users will be able to suggest Pokestops/point of interests? I'd love that.

 

Right now the company is using their old app to do that. People would suggest places, and they would upload them as portals or some shit that you'd have to defend. I never understood it.

 

Claimed a gym at 10:30 and it has already been over run. Who the fuck is wandering the streets right now?

 

Would've taken over an entire gym but the game kept fucking up.

What's everyone's level / highest CP Pokemon? I've only played a little bit, but I'm lvl 6 and have a Pidgeot over 400, which is the highest I've seen compared to all the gym Pokemon in my area

Also do you have to be going a certain pace for it to count your distance moved? I left it on while driving hoping that it would count the distance (the first egg I got needs 10km...) but it apparently didn't

 

What's exactly the process for Gyms? Haven't had a chance to go to my local one yet (it also says I need to be lvl 5? Which I am not) but I'll make it over as soon as I can. Damn this game for coming out during the summer break where I'm not traveling as much...

 

Feels real weird to skulk around the Holocaust Memorial Center in town looking for the four PokeStops in/around it

 

I'm actually a little bit confused about gyms. I claimed 3 that were unclaimed. I still own two of them. One was taken over. I took over a different one after winning a very easy battle. I tried doing a few other battles, but when the Pokemon got down to low health, it just stopped attacking and I couldn't make it faint. I had to close out of the game to get out at all.

 

Serves as a capture point. When you get to level 5 you will pick between 3 different teams (red blue and yellow depending on the legendary bird). From then on the goal is to capture as many gyms for your team.

 

Yeah that's exactly what happened to me as well. There were three Pokemon at one gym, and so every time I beat all three the weakest one would be removed from it (and the gym would lost a ton of prestige). Then I got to the point where it was only the top Pokemon, and I'd get it down to the lowest health but the app would mess up and it wouldn't faint

 

What do you even stand to gain for taking over gyms, though?

 

There is really no reason to. The game doesn't give you much incentive for anything at all.

 

What does the Defender bonus give you?

 

Pretty obsessed with this game, and if my news feed is any indicator, so is everyone else.
I haven't been able to get to a gym or pokestop yet..none in my neighborhood. Boo.
Also I am level 6 and haven't been asked to join a team yet. Is it only when you go to a gym that you choose?

Also....I feel like I have caught a LOT from my house. I have caught like 40+ from my house just since last night.
