It's similar enough to The Spade in vibe that it should be right up your alley, but I think the songwriting is stronger--especially lyrically. These songs are a lot richer in terms of theme and story, imo.

The Spade and Sycamore are my favorite full lengths, but if Peachtree Battle was a full album then it might have overtook both. From these two songs, it seems like Spade/Peachtree are the vibes I'm getting

I'd say it's actually more Spade plus Sycamore. A lot of the influences from Sycamore (Bruce, Petty, Costello) get revisited here.

With these first two songs, especially "Stay Gold", I really wish I had this to blast all summer.

Also, and I'm probably the only one here who remembers this song or album, but his spoken-word delivery in the verses of "East Coast Girl" reminds me of "In-Between" by Seven Mary Three

Can we talk about how wonderful the chimes toward the end of Stay Gold are?

We can talk about the wonderfulness of this song at any time.

These are exactly the artists that I hear in the first two songs. The Spade seemed to have a heavy Beatles vibe to it although I've never seen who inspired him on that album. I cannot wait to hear the whole damn record. Butch is one of the most under appreciated artists/musicians I can think of.

I don't think the Beatles were much of an influence on The Spade. The album before that, however, was very heavily Beatles influenced.

Yeah I think the Spade is more Southern Bar rock than anything else

I hear it in a lot of things he's doing vocally on that record. The Beatles had a major impact rock music in general especially the other artists that he takes his influences from so it could easily just be an extension of those artists that I don't listen to as much.

Ludlow is my favorite, that and Spark Lost

I think "Spark Lost" is probably the best song on the record.

Steve do you just hate ballads or something?

Haha no!! There are plenty of ballads I love. This song in particular just doesn't strike me as very interesting or exciting, I hate the word "generic" but it feels like there's not much that makes this one stand out. It's fine, I don't hate it at all, it just doesn't jump out as unique and exciting like the other two tracks so far

I said that because you also didn't like Afraid of Ghosts. Seems like ballads just aren't your jam with Butch.
